Hi,
As a brief note on my professional background, I have specialized in banking transformation / implementation, delivery, project & program management, account management and service delivery. I was associated with Oracle's consulting practice from May 1999 to Dec 2018. I was a Consulting Practice Manager from May 1999 to Sep 2012. I was promoted in Oct 2012 as a Consulting Practice Director in Oracle’s Middle East Consulting practice which is part of Oracle’s Financial Services Global Business Unit (FSGBU).
Over the last 20 years, I have had the opportunity of managing and delivering 21 high visibility multimillion dollar technology projects of value ranging from $2M to $15M and a team size of 10 to 50 in 16 leading banks across the world. I am experienced in overseeing multiple parallel projects and have onsite experience managing T&M and FP projects in 8 countries - Nigeria, China, India, Austria, Netherlands, USA, U.A.E and Kuwait. Projects managed have been across various banking domains – Treasury, Trade, Islamic Banking, Corporate Banking and Core Banking. During the last 12 years, while I was based in Dubai, UAE, I managed some of the largest banking transformation projects in the region, both in terms of value and complexity. I have delivered several referenceable projects while successfully achieving the triple constraints of schedule, cost and scope and ensuring return to both customer and Oracle.
As a Practice Director I managed a hybrid of roles of a Project/Program Manager and a Delivery/Account Manager. was involved right from project inception - which is the Bid Transition stage until successful Go Live and Post Live support These aspects included - a) Bid Transition, b) Project plan preparation, c) Project Management Plan preparation, d) Resource onboarding, e) Project Kickoff with Client, f) Stakeholder Analysis & management, g) Weekly status reporting to Client, h) Monthly status reporting internally, i) Tracking Effort, Expenses, Revenue, Signoffs, j) Representing Oracle at Client SteerCo meetings & Working Group meetings, k) Coordinate with Offshore delivery for customizations, l) Negotiate cost with client for additional customizations, additional efforts, m) Team Management & Mentoring, n) Coordinate with other teams - License, Development, Support, Sales, o) Manage customer escalations, p) Identify Risks, Incidents and Problems and develop mitigation plans, q) Submit periodic revenue forecast, staffing forecast, r) Proactively identify pipeline opportunities & repeat sales, s) Maintaining project repository as per Oracle's Unified Methodology." I am an experienced account manager who has excellent client relationship skills. All projects managed have been major contributors to the revenue stream. I have had the distinction of generating 80% additional revenue in one of my recent projects at Oracle. I have a comprehensive understanding of Project Management Lifecycle with accountability of driving operations & architecture of new projects. While at Oracle, I achieved “Oracle Project Manager Accreditation – Level 4” and was inducted into Oracle’s Global Consulting PMO Certified Project managers’ team. All the projects were managed using Oracle’s Unified Methodology for Project and Program Management which is on the same lines as PMBOK Principles and covers all the knowledge areas and processes groups prescribed by PMBOK/PMI. As a Practice Director, I ran the Project Management Office (PMO) for the projects and programs that were managed by me. All PMO processes were established in line with PMBOK principles and Oracle’s Unified Methodology. I created periodic management reports (weekly, fortnightly, monthly) for both Oracle’s management as well as Bank’s management. I represented Oracle at Steering Committee meetings were I presented these reports to the steering committee members. Project governance was established and enforced. As a Practice Director, I was also responsible for the P&L of the projects. I was successfully in achieving margins of 30%-40% in all my projects by controlling costs and maximizing revenue. I have the distinction of achieving a margin of around 60% in one of my last projects at Oracle which lead to the project being featured in the Portfolio Review for Oracle Consulting projects Sep 2018 by Oracle’s Global Business Unit PMO as the “Top Success and Profiled Projects” in Financial Services Global Business Unit.
I have expertise in managing Complex Data Migrations - Rich mix of business and technical skills to handle all aspects of data migration. I had managed a highly complex migration stream for 5 countries at Mashreq Bank which is one of the largest banks in the Middle East. The migration stream was responsible for consolidation and migration of data from multiple applications into a single core banking system. I spearheaded the migration discussions with both the business users and the technical teams. I had the distinction of creating a very detailed migration strategy document. I designed the migration utility and tuned the utility for optimum performance. Each of the countries followed a big bang migration approach. The migration was very successful with a smooth cutover and in the process we had set new records for migration timing. The migration stream received critical acclaim from the senior management of Mashreq Bank and Oracle.
I have managed Treasury Implementations of Oracle’s flagship product FLEXCUBE in 3 leading banks having very large Treasury portfolios (Canara Bank - India, Dubai Islamic Bank – Dubai and Barclays Bank – Dubai) where it was interfaced with Reuters and Bloomberg front office systems. I have managed Software Engineering projects covering software development / customization delivery as per the SDLC process using both Waterfall and Agile Methodologies. I have created both HLD (High Level Design) and LLD (Low Level Design) documents for the change as also ISD (Interface Specification Documents) for interfaces / integration related development. I have managed development of customization migration utilities to handle migrations. I have also managed development of both online and batch Data Extractions for Data warehouse systems. I have provided technical guidance to the development team and also handled Performance Tuning. I have had the distinction of managing Oracle's first RTB (Run The Bank) arrangement as Service Delivery Manager for Core Banking support (L0, L1, L2 support) and Infrastructure support
(Database, Operating System, Weblogic) at Mashreq Bank, one of the largest banks in the UAE,. I managed this arrangement for 5 countries spanning 3 years which covered Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Capacity, Service Continuity Management and Testing. I had the distinction of achieving 99.7% system uptime as per the service level agreement. I have a valid US Employment authorization which enables me to work for any employer in the US. I will not need a visa sponsorship now or in the future. I would be interested in delivery, project/program management, account management or similar roles. I am open to discussing other roles that will help me grow professionally. I can join immediately. Yours Sincerely
Sunil Bhandarkar
