Project planning and monitoring on CCPM

Summary of work at Siemens Flanders, New Jersey, USA

I worked at Siemens METS(Mecahnical engineering Testing Solutions) group from Nov 27th 2017 to Jul 30th 2018. At Siemens my role was to use NX11 and Teamcenter to prepare 3-D models and ASME Y14.5 2009 standard based drawing using NX11 and Teamcenter.

The manufactured components, in-sep assemblies and Assemblies were released to status 60 after completing the Teamcenter release process. This includes steps like initiating the release task by creating the EC folder and populating it with all models and drawings ready for release. Thereafter steps like vendor approval and approval by project engineer are completed. If approved the item (part, assembly, drawing) comes to Status 60.

Coordinated with FDM (Fusion Deposition molding) team to produce prototype parts using NX and FDM facility at Siemens Flanders for improving the assembly. The prototype was checked against the EP build of decapper module that was available within the site. The exercise helped to improve the design.

Prepared checklists to facilitate procurement initiation and also maintained supplier communication for resolving any issues.

Summary of work at L&T Mumbai India

Role : Project engineer.

Job objectives were achieved partly by being in charge of the kickoff meeting (identify the resources and scope) and uploading the project plan on CCPM (identifying critical chain and project monitoring using buffer management)

The CCPM monitoring always pointed out the task at hand. The PM keeps a close watch on the tasks and pitches in where needed to achieve the deadlines. The approach is more inclusive than exclusive.

Used NX and AutoCAD for design, engineering,BaaN for purchase, stores to drive the assembly, testing and trials phase. For parts and assemblies purchase requests were generated from the BaaN ERP system. Also BaaN activities for releasing the parts after store receipt for assembly until the final assembly is released to the customer.

Basic solid model was developed to include fabricated and machined structures (stationary base frame, rotating frame, positioning platform, detailed subassembly placement,OEM parts ex. Outriggers, actuators, gearboxes, standard parts like bearings, seals, ball screws, slewing bearing, dampers, interface for electronic devices, resolvers, sensors and its mountings. Thus the final BOM was prepared.

The models thus evolved represent to a reasonable extent what the final product will be like.

The BaaN ERP was used for Procurement planning and assembly release.

As soon as the Drawing and BOM was released by the engineering and PMG group, the project engineer creates item ID in BaaN and generated its purchase request. Due to customized nature of parts and subassemblies the project engineer was involved by purchase and store office.

Followup with vendors and involvement thru in-process inspection of manufactured parts and quality conformance from vendors of standard parts and OEM parts was a part of project engineers task.

Once the items are delivered in store,If found OK a GRN (goods receipt note) is issued and item entered in BaaN system for Project engineer to view its availability in store along with its specific location in the store. When required the items are withdrawn from the store using BaaN ERP.

The Project managers get items released from store to the assembly workshop on BaaN ERP. The assembly was completed according to the approved assembly procedures and then Customer or internal inspection was carried out.
