BIW Structural Design of a Coupe Clemson, SC

Graduate Project February 2018 – March 2018

• Objective: Develop a side frame structure to achieve the bending stiffness requirement of the vehicle.

• Procedure: Roll cage model was designed using Solid works and CATIA V5. Further von Mises stresses, principal stresses, buckling and model vibration parameters were analysed using Altair Hyperworks

• Results: After 3 iterations, bending and torsional stiffness for the new body-in-white coupe structure was achieved Design of Experiments of Blanking Process Greenville, SC Graduate Project February 2018 – April 2018

• Objectives: Reduce blanking process time without sacrificing part quality and identifying defects.

• Procedure: Testing of process models for their predictability and optimization capability were performed

• Result: There was a strong relationship between the process input factors and properties of the material used. Modal Analysis of BMW X3 Greenville, SC

Graduate Project March 2018 – April 2018

• Objective: Fundamental modes of vibration analysis of BMW X3.

• Procedure: Signal processing and analysis was conducted using Siemens LMS PLM and color map and waterfall plots were analyzed.

• Result: The frequency at which there was a resonant peak in the color-map had to be modified in such a way that these frequencies do not align with the structural normal modes of vibrations. Suspension Design of a Formula-1 Racing Car Clemson, SC Suspension Design Assistant August 2017 – December 2017

• Objective: Design of a formula 1 racing car suspension system.

• Procedure: Generating 3D layouts and 2D drawings using solid works and analysis for endurance, material, optimization of steering angles and kinematic linkage.

• Result: The race car was presented at Michigan Tech University at an annual inter-college SAE event Prototype design of a Multi-functional Railway Track Scavenging Vehicle Bhopal, India Undergraduate Project February 2013 –June 2014

• Objective: Construction of a semi-automatic garbage disposal machine for Indian Railways.

• Procedure: Patent is pending for this prototype. Design and analysis of components using Solidworks, CATIA, FEA and DMU Kinematics.

• Result: Currently being tested by the railway ministry and will be used by them for rail track cleaning from August 2019. PUBLICATIONS
