To develop fission yeast S. pombe as a system for understanding the mechanism of action of some human disease related genes with special emphasis on the genes for chromatin assembly.

Finding out Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms in Indian population was undertaken. This led to the discovery of some novel SNPs that have not been reported in NCBI database.
