Principal Software Developer

●Worked on the “Buy” side- which studies and reports on consumer goods purchases and behaviors. The other side is Nielsen’s better known TV surveys and data.

●The role involved intensive C++ development and data management. My responsibility were a majority programming but I was involved in all phases of the SDLC.

●The system on the Buy side of Nielsen operates in 25 countries; utilizing Sybase databases, Hadoop Data Storage, and a Visual Studio C++ 2014 Front End Interface, and an extensive C++ / Sybase Marketing Report Model backend. .

●The Sybase Databases support a full Consumer Package Goods Item Master database with 1400 Product Categories, a large scale complement of 60+ Marketing Report Models, and User Created Item Category Product Lists for over 1800 Us Clients.

●Backend components will perform the retrieval and loading of the 60+ Report Models; including defining 10+ categories of Buyer Groups and loading of over 1000 Volumetric Facts.

● C++ 11 was primarily in use with implementing plans to move to C++17 in place. The front end utilized Visual Studio.

●One side system that I personally coded in entirety includes the Household Demographic Projection System that uses CALMAR Linear Algebra to project our 125,000 Sample to the U.S. Population. Another Side System that I personally coded in entirety expanded the Projection System to add the additional capability of Transactional Data Projection.

●Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, Jenkins and Confluence were project tools used in the execution of the SDLC. Agile was the primary approach on projects. Projects consisted of 10-15 Personnel with 4-6 Programmers. Projects ranged from 3 months to 2+ years.

●The environment consisted of multiple (10-15) HP Linux Servers. Unix Servers before 2002

●Our transaction data, what CPG products the 125,000 panelists purchased, is stored in a Cloudera-based Hadoop platform with a Java based extract, update system. I developed 50% of the Java based system.

●Sybase was used extensively, with stored procedures used throughout both the Front-End and Backend environments.
