• Associate Degreed Civil/Structural Designer with extensive experience in the use of AutoCAD and Microstation. 3D modeling experience utilizing Smartplant 3D structural, piping and equipment modules, Tekla Structures, InRoads, Bentley Plantspace & Navisworks. I also have had some exposure to Revit and Civil 3D. Civil/Structural Designer on various power, petrochemical, commercial, industrial, residential and infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include preparation, coordination and checking of 3D modeling and design drawings of steel and concrete structures.. Duties also include interdisciplinary coordination and interaction with site personnel and fabrication/equipment vendors.. Prior experience includes responsibility for CAD quality and training as well as ensuring drawing consistency, organizing and developing CAD standards and mentoring other designers.

WORK EXPERIENCE

* McDermott International Inc. (formerly CB&I) Charlotte, NC 1/2016 - present Senior Civil/Structural Designer

Initially worked on the NetPower project which was a pilot power plant in Texas. 3D modeling software was Tekla Structures. NetPower is a new technology producing zero emissions. Currently working on the Asheville Combined Cycle Gas power plant in NC, this is a workshare project in conjunction with the Gurgaon, India office. We are using Smart 3D (formerly Smartplant 3D) to produce the 3D model and Smartsketch to create the drawing deliverables.

* AECOM (formerly URS Corporation) Fort Mill, SC 10/2010 – 1/2016 Lead Civil/Structural Designer

Lead Structural Designer worked on the Standard Plant Design for new Nuclear Power Plant in Virginia. Supervised a small team of designers producing 3D models (Smartplant 3D) and 2D drawings of Nuclear Island structures Reactor Building (PCCV), Power Source Building, Auxiliary Building and Access Building. Supported Plant Services group producing drawings for plant modifications (EC’s), performing site visits, walk downs and client interaction.

* FLUOR Charlotte, NC 11/2008 – 6/2010

Civil/Structural Design Specialist

Assigned to the SCE&G Williams/Wateree project, produced 3D model, material takeoffs and performed checking of steel fabrication drawings for AQCS projects at 2 Steam Power (Fossil) Stations in South Carolina. Also worked on Plant Betterment project for Georgia Power at their Plant McDonough facility in Georgia, the project involved producing 3D models and drawings of pipe supports for 12,000 LF of new pipe added to the existing plant. All existing steel was modeled in Frameworks Plus, all pipe supports were modeled using Support Modeler (by Pelican Forge).

* The Shaw Group Charlotte, NC 4/2006 – 11/2008

Civil/Structural Design Specialist

Structural Designer on an EPC contract for a new 800 MW Supercritical Power Plant and Flue Gas Desulfurization System at Cliffside Steam Station in NC. Responsible for generating 3D model of existing & new structures, conveyors, underground structures using Smartplant 3D and Frameworks. Also responsible as “point person” for all SmartPlant 3D related matters pertaining to the Civil/Structural group. In addition, I worked on civil site development, structural steel and concrete drawings using Microstation J, and Smartsketch.

* AREVA / SGT Charlotte, NC 7/2001 – 4/2006

Lead Civil/Structural Designer

Worked as Lead Designer on Callaway Nuclear Power Plant (Missouri), Steam Generator Replacement project for SGT

(joint venture between Washington Group Int’l and Areva ANP). Responsible for generating 3D model and 2D drawing of existing plant conditions for engineering and visualization purposes, including piping, pipe supports, equipment, vessels, structural steelwork and concrete. Supervised a small team of designers on project. Visited Nuclear Plant and gained RCA badge, performed walkdowns and assisted with field measurements, surveying etc within the Reactor Bldg. Responsible for conducting “In-House” testing for new 3D modeling products. All modeling performed utilizing the Bentley suite of products (Plantspace & Bentley Structural) and also CSA’s MacroCAD

* Parsons Infrastructure & Technology Inc. Charlotte, NC 12/2000 – 7/2001 Civil/Structural Designer

Worked on Building Addition and Engine Generator replacement projects for BellSouth.Duties included existing conditions research, Structural Design and Drafting of new works, interdiscipline coordination and liaising with Structural Engineer and Approver. Bellsouth project deliverables produced using AutoCAD R14 and 2000i Also worked as Structural Designer on Light Rail Transit project for The City of Charlotte, producing alignment layouts, key plans etc for planning submittal using Microstation J.

* Parsons Energy & Chemical Group London, UK 10/1999 – 12/2000 Civil/Structural Designer

Worked on Humber Oil Refinery for Conoco Ltd (PDS Project). Using Microstation SE and Frameworks, I produced a 3D model of a Substation, Heavy Equipment Layout and Underground Services drawings. In addition I produced Rebar details of foundations to Process equipment including Fractionators and Reactor Feed Vessels using CADS RC

(rebar placement software) and AutoCAD R14.

* Rail Link Engineering Ltd London, UK 9/1997 – 10/1999 Civil/Structural Designer

Worked on the 5.2 billion pound (UK) Channel Tunnel Rail Link project. Rail Link Engineering was the project manager and scheme designer; made up of a consortium of four Engineering shareholders, Bechtel, Systra, Sir William Halcrow & Ptnrs and Ove Arup consultants. The project itself was creating a dedicated 225 km/h rail route from St Pancras Station in London to the Channel Tunnel Terminal in Folkestone, Kent. Heavy engineering on a huge scale including major excavation and tunneling work along with new bridge, road and rail track construction. My duties included producing Bridge Structure and Civil Layout drawings using Microstation 95 and Bentley InRoads & Siteworks. Rebar drawings produced using REOFORCE rebar detailing software and drawing coordination using Documentum database.
