EXPERIENCE IN DIAGNOSTIC AND INTERVENTION RADIOLOGY:

Christian Medical College, Vellore, India is a 2800 bedded tertiary care hospital.

The Department of Radiology is equipped with many CR and DR X ray machines, a remote controlled G.I. Fluoroscopy unit, 15 ultrasound machines including colour doppler, two angiographic suite including a biplane DSA suite, a mammography unit, 3 CT scanner [including one 64 slice dual source] and 4 MRI including one 3T, 3 1.5T MRI scanner. We have the PACS network in the hospital.

On an average more than 1000 examinations are performed each day. Other than plain radiography, special procedures including Barium procedures (15/day), Ultrasounds and doppler (>250/day), CT scans (>180/day), MRI scans (>120/day), and DSA related procedures and angiograms (>8-10/day) and ~10-15 CT/US guided procedures are performed

Since I joined the department as a staff Radiologist in September 2007, I had been posted in various work areas in rotation. All examinations in the area were performed or supervised and reported by me. Currently I works mostly in intervention/DSA suite.

In diagnostic radiology, I am able to perform and report many radiological investigations like, USG, Colour Doppler, mammography, MRI, CT including neuro, MSK, abdomen, head and neck, cardiac and coronary CT angiograms. Also have experience in PETCT reporting.

In interventional Radiology the cases I perform independently include interventions in hepatic vein and IVC plasty and stenting, BRTO, TIPS and DIPS, sclerotherapy of vascular malformation, diagnostic angiography including cerebral and spinal angiogram, preoperative tumour embolisation (juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, vertebral tumours etc), embolisation for GI bleeders, tumoural/traumatic bleed, TACE, Bronchial and uterine artery embolisation, embolisation of splanchnic artery aneurysms, transjugular liver biopsies, RF ablation of osteoid osteoma and HCC and other tumour, SVC stenting for SVC syndrome, aortoiliac and peripheral artery plasty and stenting, percutaneous nephrostomy, antegrade ureteric stenting, percutaneous biliary drainage and stenting, endobiliary RFA, central catheter insertion like PICC/Hickman/Chemoport/Dialysis catheters, CT and USG guided biopsy and drainage procedures, Trans rectal and trans vaginal biopsy, CT guided chemical sympathectomy, lymphangiography.

I can also independently perform many neurointerventions like aneurysm coiling, carotid stenting, BTO, trapping of ICA, intracranial and spina dural fistula/AVM, intracranial tumour, dural avf and avm embolization, cerebrovenous thrombosis and stroke thrombolysis/thrombectomy.

TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a consultant faculty, I am responsible for teaching of the postgraduates and intervention fellows posted with me. This includes discussing the cases in non-formal teaching sessions, moderating seminars and guiding project and thesis.

I have been taking part in the interdepartmental conference/meeting with various deprtments like Vascular surgery, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Hepatology, Oncology and Hepatobiliary surgery.

CAREER AIMS:

My special areas of interest are Interventional Radiology and Neuroradiology. Through continuous learning and keeping abreast of new advances, I want to stay relevant in the field with knowledge, skill and training.
