Designed and conducted surveys to determine the proper disposition of Lotus Notes databases to allow the transition to Microsoft Outlook and surveys to determine the current use of MS Office to help in the transition to Office 365. Supported 2 legacy MS Office applications and acted as a Business Analyst for the enhancement of corporate SharePoint sites.

Created a new procedure to use new processes replacing mainframe sources for an Actuarial Excel pivot application that constructs the development triangles for both the pricing and reserving actuaries along with another pivot application that displayed data the actuaries used for constructing the reserves.

Coordinated the compliance of controls around access to legacy applications based on Microsoft Access and the Mainframe system.

Supported the RESQ application used by the Actuarial Department. This included coordinating the adoption of new versions and coordinated the transition to use a new server based on SQL 2012 to support the models.

Served as PC Coordinator Role and as a liaison between the Business Units and various onshore and offshore areas, this included New Hire onboarding including requests for new equipment and software and the required access to various enterprise systems, software and network share drive access; identifying users’ software needs and submitted the proper requests for existing employees when they changed roles.

Coordinated with the help desk to resolve issues that arose in my supported user groups.

Served as the Chief Architect and lead developer in converting and migrating the Actuarial Departmental Processes and applications to use SQL Server 2008 R2 and SSAS 2008 from their equivalents that still used SQL 2000 components as their base. This including combining and eliminating redundant databases (approximately 30); the saved about $2000 a month.

Served as an unofficial part-time DBA several databases underlying a variety of legacy Visual Basic, FoxPro and MS Access applications. During this time, added and removed users and recommended changes to the security model.

Loaded and the migrated of the data during period data updates and served as in DBA role for the databases that supported these applications.

Maintained and supported monthly financial close cycle ETL processes using SAS on the PC and Unix platforms along with SQL SSIS packages that update the data for Reinsurance Accounting and Actuarial production applications and numerous reports to support these departments data analysis along with the creation of reports to the Home Office in Switzerland.

Provided data for analysis for Actuarial Pricing and Reserving.

Created new technical documentation for many of these processes and coordinated the transfer of 5 processes to offshore resources using this documentation.

Developed a MS Access/SQL server client server application employing MS access as a forms engine that called stored procedures and user defined functions to aggregate uploads of Bulk Reinsurance data from spreadsheets into a SQL database.

Developed a series of complex SSIS Packages that created a nightly upload file for passing to the RS legacy mainframe system. This allowed retiring a legacy manual entry application on the Mainframe and increased productivity of the Reinsurance Accounting staff.

Acted as Lead Developer and Database Designer on a project to replace an outdated mainframe system that manages the editing and filing process for the Workers Compensation USP Data using SQL Server 2000, Data Transformation Services, MS Access XP and supporting VBA; this application employed numerous SQL Stored Procedures and triggers to enforce business and perform updates from the MS Access client. Because of the increases in productivity and accuracy; this application decreased fines by $200,000 and allowed a 50% reduction in staff. Maintained and enhanced this application after the project’s completion from 2002 through 2004.

Developed a Reinsurance data cube for use in the analysis of Zurich’s ceded reinsurance arrangements. Produced other applications for use by Zurich’s Reinsurance Operations department including an extended view of the Schedule F data.

Developed an Access Application and a Mainframe process that streamlined the reporting and quality control of Massachusetts Automobile experience to the Bureau that reduced editing and evaluation time by 25%.

Supplemented the development efforts of the outside provider in the creation and deployment of the RCARD application and developed an ETL process using a combination of PC SAS, Stored Procedures and SQL 2000 DTS to extract and translate data from the source production systems into formats required by the RCARD application.
