AUGUST 2015 – MAY 2018
HOME HEALTH AID/CAREGIVER
HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE
8356 FOREST OAKS BLVD.
SPRINGHILL, FL 34606
Trust and companionship were my goals for each of my clients. To me it’s personal and the attention that I provided as a Care Giver is from my heart. Each case is unique and is in need of special circumstances. I took clients shopping, to Dr. Appointments, out to eat, to movies, friends or families’ houses, whatever made them comfortable in their day-to- day living. I offered companionship and conversation, provided respite care, monitored diet, and eating, checked food expirations, assisted them at night and tucked them in and in the morning woke them. Arranged appointments assisted with walking, assisted with entertainment, clothing selection, played games, cards, puzzles, participated in crafts and stimulated, mental awareness. Prepared grocery lists and supervised home maintenance, discussed current and historical events and reminisced about the past. I did light housekeeping, reminded clients of their medications, always utilized safety precautions, gave fluids, prepared meals and ate with them or just sat and had conversation while they were consuming their meals. I bathed/showered, bed baths, assisted in bathroom, dressing, changed briefs, and personal hygiene in general. I helped with mobility and cognitive impairment.
I fed/walked their animals and took care of their pets. Communicated with family and kept them up-to-date with any changes in health and/or medications. I planned, prepared, and cleaned-up meals, picked-up scripts, prepared future meals. I worked with patients who had Alzheimer’s, stroke victims, heart problems, diabetes, vascular issues, broken hips, necks, backs, arms, legs, wrists, etc. 2

The clients that I have met had lived extraordinary lives and they all have unique experiences and backgrounds. I ensured the family, that the client could stay in their homes as long as possible, and still feel safe and comfortable. I quickly got to know the clients and their day-to-day routines. I reported and recorded any changes and warnings signs to office and or family.
Getting you know the patient and their type of illness helped me better serve their emotional and physical needs and assist me in establishing their limitations. Together we worked around their limitations, to make certain they lead full and rewarding lives. Safety was a major concern for the client as well as, myself and every precaution must be taken. I constantly watched for trip and fall hazards. Client Privacy is a must, I follow HIPPA Laws at all times.
I love to be out and about and meet new people. I’m an excellent listener. I communicatee both orally and in writing, which at times, can be quite challenging with clients whom are impaired. I built new relationships, with each and every client/family. All clients’ specific ways of life, roles, values, social institutions, and a shared view of the World. I am always open to training, as this assisted me in getting to know my clients better.
