EDUCATION
Central Connecticut State University
1615 Stanley Street, New Britain, Connecticut
Major: Biomolecular Sciences
B.S. Degree Awarded: May, 2018
Waterbury Arts Magnet School
16 South Elm Street, Waterbury, Connecticut
High School Diploma Awarded: June, 2009
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Central Connecticut State University: October, 2016-May, 2018
Research Assistant:
My undergraduate research focused on the molecular characterization of mutant mice with altered hair morphology. I performed DNA isolation and analysis in Dr. King’s Laboratory, and learned cell culture techniques in Dr. Mulrooney’s Laboratory. This experience fulfilled an academic requirement, provided the basis of 3 formal presentations and an undergraduate thesis, and served as my Work/Study employment (March 2017-December 2017).
Technical Skills:
Proficient in DNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction, gel electrophoresis
Tissue culture, immunohistochemistry
Research Grants Won:
2016 AAUP Faculty/Student Research Grant: “Fine-mapping the curly whiskers (cw) mutation in mice” ($500 awarded to support research in Dr. King’s laboratory)
2017 AAUP Faculty/Student Research Grant: “The cellular basis of the mouse curly whiskers (cw) mutation” ($750 awarded to support research in Dr. Mulrooney’s laboratory)
