Working instores – Pick’n pay and Spar stores as a Fieldmarker which is the same as Merchandising but with more tasks and responsibilities from 8am to 5pm weekdays.

Packing stock on shelves, only stock for clients that are under Smollan instore such as Kelloggs, Bavaria, Twinsaver, Adcock to name a few.

Counting of stock both on shelves and store room while doing stock rotation.

Checking expiry dates on all stock

Ordering stock with the help of the store buyer each week and always need to make sure that i order enough each week especially on fast selling lines so that the store does not run out of stock.

Calling in for returns – which is stock that has been damaged and stock that has expired.

Getting new lines into the stores

Negotiating deals with store managers, for example whenever there is new lines they have to go on promotion to make the customers aware so most of the times stands are created and displayed in stores on promotion prices. So when negotiating deals we usually ask for permission to have these displays in stores for a certain amount of time and in return the store gets paid by the company or gets free stock.

Responsibilities: As a Runner – I was responsible for making sure that the restaurant is clean and neat at all times by cleaning, mopping, dusting and- putting fresh table cloths on tables, making sure that the utensils on tables are clean just before the restaurant opens.

When open for business i had to pick up the customer’s food from the kitchen and to their different tables where they would be seated.

Cleaning up the tables once the customers have eaten and putting new utensils and table cloths once they leave to prepare for the next customers.

To be o service around the restaurant during peak hours for whenever there is spillage or broken plates to clean up and keep neat.

As a floor hostess my responsibilities were to meet and greet the customers at the door and walk them to their different venues, usually on weekends when it is mostly busy and the restaurant has a lot of bookings.

To sit at the reception and answer calls from customers who are calling to make bookings to come and eat or have booked for parties and work functions.

We call to see if the person may be interested in joining the club or we would use a strategy where we would “lie” and pretend as if the person had won a competition and they had won a price, the price was real but in order for the “winner” to receive their price they had to agree to sign up for the holiday club.
