● Developed new disk surface protective carbon overcoats and lubricants with additives, which made head/disk interface more reliable at hot and humid environments.

● Designed experiments and evaluated negative air bearing surface designs that reduced altitude sensitivity and linear velocity sensitivity.

● Explored the possibility of using acoustic emission as a nondestructive testing technique to monitor crack propagation around bolt holes, mechanical strengthening of aluminum alloys in various heat treatment conditions, and solidification process of carbon fiber reinforced composite materials.

● Designed and built acoustic emission equipment with PZT sensors and single chip computers. Wrote the data acquisition and data processing embedded software in assembly language. Published 2 patents, and 18 technical papers.
