Summary: CDM Data Inc. is a company that provides products and services to help automobile dealers manage their vehicle inventory and sell more cars. CDM Data Inc. is owned by Kelley Blue Book (KBB). KBB IT is in charge of CDM’s IT infrastructure and software. CDM provides its dealers with tablet PCs (‘devices’) running custom applications. The devices are used by dealers to quickly enter information about the vehicles on the dealer’s lot. The project deals with the development of DeviceApp and CDM VDLUpdater. DeviceApp is a windows application which allows the user to book in a car, print documents, and manage inventory. CDM VDLUpdater is a console application which downloads the zip files from FTP location, extracts those files and creates .sdf and .mdf files.

The objective of the project was the development of www.Karpower.com by adding new features and functionalities to the application, which is an inventory for Car dealers across US to value, market and manage their vehicles. The “New Car valuation” feature was implemented which helps car dealers to value and store brand new car data. This included saving and editing of vehicle data using Ajax and generation of reports using Active PDF library
