Objective

Experience

Government of Canada April 2016 – Current

Constituency Assistant –Assisting constituents with all federal government problems including directly contacting federal departments to resolve problems on a constituent’s behalf (such as Service Canada, Passport Canada, Citizenship and Immigration, Canada Revenue, RCMP, Canada Border Service Agency, other government offices etc.) Daily tasks included extensive letter writing to fellow dignitaries, ambassadors (in and outside of Canada), consults and embassies. I am responsible for providing correspondence for the Member of Parliament in a high paced working environment along with sometimes working on town halls, roundtables and events alone or with colleagues. I am also involved in extensive research, providing background context, summaries, Member’s speeches or general information regarding legislation, literature, grants and current events in a timely manner.

Community Outreach – Responsible for attending events with the Member of Parliament, along with preparing speeches in advance for the Member of Parliament. I also attended events alone on behalf of the Member of Parliament, sometimes networking and providing an outlet for businesses, dignitaries, constituents and stakeholders to communicate with while the Member is not available.

Social Media – involved in preparing and organizing strategic social media posts for both Twitter and Facebook. Working closely with the OLO (Official Leader’s Opposition) to thoroughly brainstorm and research useful Twitter and Facebook tools to promote the Member of Parliament’s platform. Create Tweets and Facebook posts while helping the Member of Parliament gain followers and ensure there is an open line of communication between the community and the Member.

Government of Canada Federal Campaign (Volunteer) September – October 2015

Office Campaign Administration Assistant – preparing narrow demographic statistics regarding the constituency in order to collect data and organize team strategies to collect voters. Managed the office for volunteers and constituents who needed campaign signs, literature or questions and concerns. I was involved in phone banking; ensuring people were going to vote. I also volunteered as a scrutineer in the 2016 Federal Election.

Government of Canada Summer of 2015 (Summer position only)

Constituency Assistant –Assisting constituents with all federal government problems including directly contacting federal departments to resolve problems on a constituent’s behalf (such as Service Canada, Passport Canada, Citizenship and Immigration, Canada Revenue, RCMP, Canada Border Service Agency, other government offices etc.) Making copies of the Member of Parliaments advertisements in newspapers, magazines and books for our records and House of Common financial records. Filing documents and case files accordingly while managing incoming phone calls to the Constituency office. Responsible for arranging details and creating function detailers for the Member to attend an event. It would include specific details I was in charge of locating (dress code, agenda, expectations of the Member etc.). Scheduling and responding to events and appointments accordingly for the Member of Parliament.

Government of Alberta Summer of 2013 (Summer position only)

Scanning government documents for Learner Income Support, inputting data into secured programs. Also organized government documents and expected to meet required deadlines. Filing, organizing and managing and processing applications for Learner Income Support.

Skills

From the numerous positions working directly in customer service and communications, I understand how essential it is to be professional at all times in the work environment. I have developed skills to thrive in chaotic work environments while multi tasking efficiently to complete all tasks assigned to me. It has been my responsibility to be a leader who can listen to others but still feel confident in making decisions and working alone or with colleagues. It is paramount to manage time properly and politics has trained me to be the most efficient with tight deadlines. I am able to quickly respond to public enquires with effective and efficiency while promoting and solving the public’s concerns. I am able to think quickly on my feet and more than willing to take on new roles and learn, grow and expand my knowledge and skills.
