Conducting standardized tests during the drilling process and using a variety of methods to change the mud’s viscosity, including adjusting the mud’s temperature, pH balance and chemical components.

Recommending drill bits and assisting excavating technicians in the overall safety of the drilling process

Obtaining information as drilling proceed from other service providers such as the mud logger (mud logging technician) about progress through the geological zones, whilst making regular physical and chemical checks on the drilling mud.

Working closely with the rig supervisor to disseminate information about mud properties and expected treatments and any changes that might be needed
