Experience Summary:

I started my career in ‘89 as an Analyst in United Airlines, where i developed software applications based on the analysis I did at the airports. I moved to Comnet International in ‘97, where I lead the Indian Offshore Development team to deliver the product vision of Product Managers and Architects based in US. Under my leadership several key applications were delivered to customers on time. Recognizing my contribution the company moved me to head the Indian Offshore Development Center. I lead the Indian Development Center grow from a small team of less than 50 to 500+, focussing 100% on Telecom domain. After the company was taken over by Infinite Computer Solutions I assimilated the cultures to work under the new management. I left the company in 2012, and started to work as an Independent consultant for Skeens McDonell, a company that was run by my ex clients. I studied Offshore operations of US companies in India and provided solutions in the software development processes as an Independent Consultant. I took up the role of Director for India Development Center for ShipNet Software Solutions in 2013. The company develops ERP Suite for Maritime industry. The company was struggling to get the Product Management team in Norway to work with the Development team in India. I provided the leadership that was needed for the India team and streamlined the product releases.

I am passionate about leading software development and delivery teams to achieve their maximum potential. My experience over the years, starting as a process analyst/software developer in the US, moving on to set up R&D centers for North American clients in India, gives me a very unique perspective. Director – Product Development, ShipNet Software Solutions

Reporting to the CEO

The company develops ERP suite for Ship Owners, Operators and Charters.

As the Director of Development lead the Chennai development team to deliver the product road map envisioned by the Product Managers who were based in Norway, US and UK. Prior to my leadership, the cultural difference between the teams had created a lot of stress in the working relations affecting the deliverables. My leadership provided the confidence needed by the Indian developers and the Product Managers to streamline the development process. I analyzed the data and streamlined the metrics that provided the visual milestones that the teams needed to stay on the same page.

Achievements:

●Simplified and streamlined the product development process. The implemented processes lead to quality improvement of deliverables, improved timeliness and improved revenue.

●Streamlined the relationship model with the product management and consulting groups. This helped develop an accurate product roadmap for the company.

●Revamped the Technology and Architecture team to resolve long pending issues and laid the foundation for key components that were put on hold for lack of planning/execution. This has moved the company get on the path to achieve the key integration of two different products into one integrated system, greatly improving the marketability.

●Accelerated development programs of sensitive accounts to meet the aggressive timelines.

Independent Consultant on Contract with Skeens McDonell Consulting Group based in IL, US, providing management/globalization consulting for multi-national companies that have operations in India.

I took over the role to address the most important issue North American clients had with managing Indian Development teams. As a consultant I provided key insights that helped our clients to pinpoint gaps in processes and communications. My knowledge of global distribution of development helped ensure address these areas for our clients.

1997 to 2012:

VP of Global operations, Comnet International Company (a division of Infinite Computer Solutions)

It was a multi-location role based in IL, US and Chennai, India.

Lead the Indian Development team based in Chennai, India to deliver quality software products to clients based in North America.

Comnet International develops Software Applications and provides Professional

Services for Datacom/Telecom Industry. The Chennai R&D Center had 500+

Engineers providing R&D and Professional Services for several ISV/OEMs.

The company operates in four key areas:

●Development of Telecom products catering to Telecom customers in the area of Billing, Enterprise level Telecom Resources Planning and Management, Protocol conversion, Adjunct services, Embedded Systems, Intelligent Networks, Element/Network Management and Messaging Services

●Professional Services to Telecom majors providing New Product Introduction (NPI) to end customers. Services included on-site engineering, class room/on job training and remote support

●Offshore R&D Services which included Systems Architecture, Development Support, Applications Testing, Tier II and Tier III support for Telecom Customers.

●Support services for Telecom Customers that included documentation, Tier I Support and Data Verification.

Job responsibilities:

Responsible for end to end Delivery which includes all aspects of People, Process, Technology, Operational and Strategic functions. Responsible for Customer Satisfaction, SLA management and driving Projects with Key Performance Indicators.

Achievements:

The India operation was in its infant stages when I took over the role as the head. All necessary infrastructures to support the operation were developed under my leadership. I transformed the offshore organization from back end coding/testing teams to a high end R&D Service Provider. I ensured that the operations were cost effective; the development was done under strict supervision and under stringent code of conduct. This helped the company achieve better than targets set for EBIDTA.

Was instrumental in instilling customer confidence. This helped develop business with existing customers. For example, one of the customers, a large OSS Vendor, who was wary about offshoring initially, built up the capacity of the Chennai ODC to 25% of their R&D work.

Played a crucial role in transitioning the company culture from a product company to a successful ODC for multiple customers.

Played a crucial role working with Comnet management during the time of merger with Infinite Computer Solutions. As the head of the Chennai Center seamlessly assimilated the Chennai centre into the parent company.

Lead the organization in developing and implementing processes to better serve the customers. The company is now TL9000 certified besides the ISO certifications as a result of these efforts.

1989 – 1997:

Product Development Lead - R&D Division of United Airlines, IL, USA

The R&D division provided OR and IT Services for the operations of the airline. I started my career in the airport operations area as an analyst where I studied and developed several applications to improve the efficiency of ramp and counter operations. These applications worked on real time flight operations/resources data and recommended the optimum usage of resources using algorithms. The applications helped the airline reduce cost in the area of human resources and service expenses.

●Worked closely with the user group and scoped the product.

●Worked with R&D Director to develop priorities for the team in developing the next generation of products.
