“Photochemical approaches for the synthesis of oxygen- and sulphur-containing heterocycles”.

• Synthesis of the four stereoisomers of oxetin (a β-natural amino acid).

• Studied the flow and batch conditions on the Paternò-Büchi photochemical reaction for the formation of the oxetane ring.

• Optimized the thionation reaction of different carbonyls to their corresponding thiocarbonyls.

• Developed the synthesis of thietanes by thia-Paternò-Büchi photochemical reaction.

• Thietanes obtained were used as intermediates in the synthesis of several sulphured-compounds. MSc 2 Researcher Lebanese University Hadath, Lebanon 2014

“New methods for synthesis of chelating resorcin[4]arene cavitands for complexation of heavy metals”.

• These resorcin[4]arenes have chelating arms which can selectively extract Pb(II) and Hg(II) from waste water.

• We succeeded in synthesis of novel Resorcin[4]arene, rigidified by Methylene bridges and derived from Resorcinol and Benzaldehyde, this Cavitand would be a platform to prepare other functionalized Cavitands. Laboratory Skills

• Photochemical reactions using batch and flow techniques.

• Synthetic organic chemistry experience in the laboratory (dehydration and distillation of solvents and reagents, reactions under inert atmosphere, separation of compounds, multi-step synthesis, condensation reactions, Microwave reactions, coupling of amino acids, chiral resolution, thionation reactions).

• General procedures in synthesis of amino acids, peptides and oligomers.

• Strong practical knowledge in Polarimetry, TLC, NMR, IR, UV-visible and MS analysis. Language and Computer Skills

Language skills:

• Arabic: native.

• English: fluent.

• French: fair.

Computer skills:

• Certificate of completion for IT essentials, PC hardware and software course as part of CISCO networking academy in 2007.

• Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, ChemDraw, MestreNova, MestReC.

• Internet: all searching browsers.
