I found the posting for an Office Manager and am submitting my application with great interest, as the role combines many of the responsibilities I have strengths in the fast-paced, cutting-edge environment I thrive in.

I have consistently demonstrated success in many of the skills and characteristics required in the role you are seeking to fill, and would like to share a few examples here:

Experienced office manager – The Group Disability Management Service Offices (DMSO) had multiple Office Managers, many of whom had been in their role before I joined, but I quickly became the ‘go-to’ contact on the floor because of my ability to remove roadblocks and get results as it related to topics like office moves, securing technology and other resources, and troubleshooting software. My fun-loving nature also resulted in my nomination to be the Office Manager overseeing all social committee events within the department, an assignment I relished.

Highly people-focused orientation – One of my greatest sources of pride in my career is the ability to lift others up, individually and as a collective team. For example, in leading the Admin Support team in Group Disability, I was able to enhance the individual capability of every team member through regular coaching and professional development. The team became one of the few DMSOs that consistently achieved 100% of service standards, and often reached out to help other teams across the nation.

Performance excellence – I have always been active in seeking opportunities to increase productivity through continuous improvement. For example, I researched options to enhance the way we received information from clients and vendors, and put forward a business case for implementing RightFax. After designing the implementation process for a successful pilot in Toronto, this was subsequently rolled-out nationally, significantly improving service standards and reducing paper costs.

Event Planning – As a Business Manager in Canada Life Distribution, I spearheaded planning for all advisor events for the Ontario region, ranging from Canada Life Days for a broad range of advisors to Elite events for our top producers. Under my direction, we targeted advisors with a more focused effort, and I was proud that we were able to increase attendance at Canada Life Days from roughly 350 advisors in 2015 to 500 advisors in 2016.

Familiarity with GWL policies and procedures – My previous experience with Great-West Life has given me exposure to contacts and processes within both the Individual Customer and Group Customer business units, which would allow me to contribute in my role right away. My no-nonsense demeanor and strong relationship building skills allows me to ensure things run smoothly.
