OWENS CORNING COMPANY, Granville, OH 2012 Present

Senior Process Engineer / Scientist

Oversee various research and development projects, including new binder-based and thermal fiber-based products, needle-based mats, binder application, and fiberization.

Led process development team and analyzed cure quality of NAF binder-based pipe products, using plants air system.

oDefined, specified, and installed hot-air compressor-based system to deliver 400 scfm heated air for product curing.

Recommended manufacturing process changes capable of boosting sales by more than $1M to capture Canadian market for Mineral Wool product.

oImproved Piece Job Efficiency (PJE), Operational Efficiency (OE), and product stiffness by 10%.

oDetermined and recommended method to improve Mineral-wool production equipment for improved product performance by eliminating product bunching.

Navigated development of HP5 II product, yielding $1M annual sales, by improving production process.

oEnhanced conversion efficiency (CE) of overall production line 20% and PJE 30 % by instituting different needles and needling configuration.

oIncreased HP5 I and Thermo-Range product strength by more than 50% that was comparable to competitors through fundamental understanding of structured manufacturing process for needled products.

oNominated for 2016 Innovation Award due to improvements and speed to commercialization of HP5 II Mat.

Determined through multiple laboratory and plant trials that the binder along the fibers improved product stiffness, while binder in intersection of fibers improved product recovery.

oDesigned automated and pulsed binder ring cleaning equipment and demonstrated ability to blow-off wet fibers, minimizing occurrence of wet spots in the product.

oInvestigated impact of fiber diameter and pack structure on product behavior of bonded fiber mats, determining correlation between size of fiber diameter with product stiffness and recovery quality.

oDetermined fiber pack structure made with varying diameters exhibited 20% better behavior in stiffness and recovery than fiber mats made with similar fiber diameter.

oDevised binder application process and proved capable of furthering binder application efficiency 20%.

oPartnered with external supplier and directed team in development of fiber / binder mat properties extraction program, providing insights to fiber-binder interaction in cured and uncured states.

oCollaborated with plant in binder-stratification project with potential benefit to business of $3M cost savings.

Designed back-flow preventer tool used to streamline molten glass flow and prevent clogging in un-bonded loosefill production line, reducing line downtime 10%.

Submitted to OC IP Departments 8 equipment designs for patent and Trade secrete filling and more 10 internal technical reports.

Sort and obtained funding from NLT for the execution of the various projects undertaken by the group.
