IT Manager, Network and Telecommunications 2007 – 2018

Manage the Network Infrastructure and Telecommunications team to support the company’s global infrastructure spanning 1400+ users in 17 global sites. Support the company’s growth and initiatives.

Projects/Initiatives Include:

Deployed UCAAS to global environment of 1400+ users. Evaluated top Tier providers Ring Central, Fuze and 8x8. Migration was accomplished in a timely fashion producing 200k annual cost savings and retiring end of life on premise VoIP PBX systems.

Supported the acquisition of Linksys from Cisco Systems, inheriting an office with 200 users and a co-location data center in Irvine California. Coordinate with Cisco Systems management and various teams for the smooth transition of the acquisition/divestiture. Inherited annual contracts from Cisco vendors totaling $3M per year, which I renegotiated and significantly reduced cost by over 40%

Project management of Corporate headquarters move - Identifying risks and challenges of moving 500+ employees - Research and evaluate new solutions to improve collaboration at the new location, research new tools and solutions for remote users who will be affected by the move and are requesting to telecommute. Evaluate solutions such as Cisco IP phone proxy deployment via ASA, Wifi solutions for Van Pools, Single number reach, etc.

Fiber build out to the headquarters facility, evaluate dual entry, diverse path, and diverse carrier for telco and data services. Planning and design of Data Center, MDF/IDF rooms, and all cabling requirements.

Design, procurement, implementation of infrastructure at the new corporate office. Deployment of Cisco WAN optimization technology (Cisco WAAS 512 and 674 appliances version 4.2) - The deployment improved performance over the WAN for multiple applications, file transfers, email access, while reducing bandwidth requirements and costs for data links. Project budget of 90k

Deployment of Cisco wireless solution (Cisco WLC and LWAP) for guest access and corporate users, access for RF scanners at a one million square foot distribution facility - This replaced older technology and delivered better performance and more functionality. Project budget of 100k

Relocation of the company’s main data center from the corporate office to a co-location center. Evaluated locations and worked with a vendor to identify geographic risks - Selection of co-location/hosting center, architect and deploy new Infrastructure, project planning and migration of systems - This project was executed on schedule with an aggressive timeline, deployed with minimal downtime, and achieved all goals set. - This project lowered operational expenses and eliminated risks.

Deployment of hosted IVR/ACD - Issued RFP to carriers/partners setting all requirements - Reviewed and selected solution partner - Identify resources, mentored senior staff to manage the migration and cutover - This solution lowered transport costs while providing improved uptime - This also eliminated the need for constant capacity planning and monitoring to support the company’s growing call volume.

Re-negotiated International toll free rates and managed porting of numbers and IVR changes to support the change - This reduced monthly expenses in APAC and South America by 250k per year.

Deployment of company cell phone policy - Renegotiated the company’s wireless contract saving 180k per year - Refreshed all hardware at no cost, 300+ BlackBerry devices were replaced in a 2 week timeframe
