Job Description: Receive, monitor, check accuracy, and aggregate information on children receiving publicly funded services. Oversee, review and approve Individual Planning Fund requests for the State. Determine eligibility for funding for children’s mental health support; adaptive equipment, parent trainings; treatment services; consultations and safety equipment. Document funding authorizations and inform parents and case managers of approval and denial decisions and document decisions in the EIS system within established timelines.

Track time sensitive information in data systems to stay in compliance with Federal and State laws. Provide referral information to agency providers, parents and community members interested in services.

Other major responsibilities include receiving and processing referrals, determining eligibility, and enrolling children into school-based section 28 programs. The (PS) enters assessment authorizations into the EIS system, and documents other detailed contact/outcome information discussed with family members, case managers, and service provider staff into EIS. The PS has significant interaction with parents, service providers, case managers, and colleagues and as representative of DHHS/OCFS, the PS is required to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times and situations, utilizing appropriate customer service skills. The PS monitors wait lists for treatment programs for children, to assure that children receive case management services in a timely manner and according to established timelines. The PS is responsible to continue to develop knowledge of Maine care services, such as Section 28, 65, and 32 the Katie Beckett program and other OCFS programs, in order to inform parents, service providers, case managers and colleagues of eligibility criteria, the referral process and available services within the service of delivery system.

Job Description: Worked with families in compliance with Title 22 of Maine law.

This position required and included assessing safety, degree of jeopardy, client capabilities and family functioning of children whose safety was in jeopardy. Plans; facilitated Family Team Meetings; monitored children in foster care placements; provided client advocacy and development of natural and community resources and referrals for families in the reunification process with their children. Responsible for the interviewing of children and parents to determine if the intervention of safety plans were needed to protect children living in the home. Closely monitor the family in the home by performing well being checks and setting up appropriate treatment services for the family. Follow a case through the legal process until the child was deemed safe or needed permanent removal from the home for reasons of safety. Preparation of all required court documentation needed to be filed in order to bring closure to a case. Present legal testimony for court cases on behalf of the State of Maine to determine child safety in the home.
