Visit companies in Wayne County and oversee onsite safety inspections for compliance or after a serious accident or fatality.Review company procedures,chemicals being used,and equipment for protective features.Ensure proper safety equipment (i.e.:helmets,glasses,etc)is being used. Review loges,accident reports and training records.Explain what,if any,infractions were found and the importance of correcting them.Negotiate with management to bring their operations into safety compliance.Prepare reports of all site visits and indicate what was not in compliance recommending appropriate penalties.Determine if management/employees are receiving proper MIOSHA training and if not offer recommendations.Offer recommendations on internal improvements and partner with company management to meet requirements.Train and mentor new inspection officers.

• Recently gave a company a perfect audit,after working with them for five years.The company had 120 employees at two locations.Provided onsite training and recommended the states free training programs.Offered safer processes that were implemented over the years by open communication,trust and building relationships.

• By direct communication with the president of a metal stamping plant audits improved from penalties of more than $167,000 to a clean audit.The president realized the importance of training and equipment to overall plant safety.

OGDEN MARTIN WASTE TO ENERGY,Detroit,MI 1991 to 2001 Michigan Waste Energy Resource Recovery Facility,Detroit, Safety Engineer (1994 to 2001)

Managed all MIOSHA activities,plant inspections and accident investigations.Trained contractors and internal employees on Federal/State regulations and company policy.Met and discussed safety issues with senior management recommending improvements.Developed monthly training schedules,led classes and maintained training records.Oversaw and scheduled physicals for contractors and employees,based on the type of work they performed.

• Able to save the company $160,000 in a Workers Compensation case.An employee claimed a work related injury after seeking treatment from his own doctor.Working closely with the insurance company the workers compensation claim was denied.The employee filed a law suit for $185,000,pain and lost wages.An investigator was then hired.It was determined that the man’s claims were unjustified and the case was settled for $25,000 as a nuisance claim.

• Significantly improved morale and injury costs by changing to a new clinic with better hours and personally staying with injured employees to show management cared.

• Plants fire system was extremely deficient.The companies insurance company was going to drop all 26 plants because of the danger.Quickly and effectively eliminated the problem.The system was in full compliance and the insurance remained in tack. EDUCATION &TRAINING
