Product Development Specialist with broad experience in Insect Control RD&E including early stage ideation / innovation / technology exploration, product efficacy testing, consumer insight research, concept development and development of novel test methodologies, devices, and formulae for refined superior products. Expertise in preparation of data packages for finished product formulae registration including GLP study sponsor and study director roles for registration support. Also possess global experience in product development, insecticide registration and consumer insight research. Possess science teaching skills at the K-12 age range as well as at the undergraduate and graduate level.

2012-2016 Technology Acquisition Network (TAN) Manager, Global Pest Control

Responsible for evaluation of patents, new technologies, potential small company acquisitions and future planning for Global Pest Control strategic direction

Conduct early product valuation, company/business evaluations, get to know the ‘people selling the technology’

Meet with cross functional teams to facilitate the above activities

Prepare and present updates to senior management in Pest Control

Worked with chemists, designers, entomologists, and marketing teams to develop new product ideas from paper to working prototypes – this process involved intensive interaction with the consumer

Attended and facilitated focus groups and in-home interviews and product placements evaluations in the field with our target consumers, both in the United States and abroad

Prepare and present findings on the above activities to Senior Management both in R&D and Marketing

1998-2003 Worked as Research Scientist as formulator and efficacy testing specialist for Global Pest Bait and fogger business’s

(This was my first assignment and I was basically an individual team member of the teams I later lead as described above from 2008-2012)

Learned the Global Pest control business for baits and fogger (controlled release aerosol for use in-house against various pests)

Learned and developed new methodologies in formulation chemistry from Senior Scientists in the company

Design experiments for evaluation of various product types

Conducted GLP efficacy and storage stability studies

1990-1998 Served as Teaching Assistant and Senior Teaching Assistant at North Carolina State University

Responsible for 6 sections each of Agricultural Pests and Urban Pests undergraduate course for Ag Science students. Responsibilities included; Syllabus preparation, preparing and delivering lectures, grading papers and projects, and mentoring students 1990-1994

Responsible for graduate lab sections of Urban Ecology. Responsibilities included; preparation of all laboratory materials needed prior to class, guiding students through various hands-on projects, grading papers and projects; mentoring students with special need, preparing and delivering lecture portion of the labs 1994-1998

Developed an undergraduate course titled ‘Insects and People’ geared towards non-majors. This was a survey course. The first year it was taught there was 1 section with 42 students, in its 4th year there were multiple sections with over 400 students. Responsibilities included; Syllabus preparation, preparation of all lecture notes, delivering lectures, collecting and maintaining props for lectures, grading papers and projects, mentoring students, assigning final grades; commitment to keeping lectures up-to-date and relevant to the class. 1993-1998

Was awarded Outstanding Teaching Assistant award in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 1992 and 1996

Was awarded Outstanding Teaching Assistant award of the year at North Carolina State University (competed with over 500 applicants to achieve this award)

While at SCJ I have been awarded 8 patents, published 6 refereed journal articles, and authored 27 articles for technical trade journals within the Urban Pest Control Industry
