As a lieutenant/ shift commander, I performed highly responsible administrative and supervisory work in planning, organizing, and directing the activities of a large state prison shift comprising of officers and support staff. Reviewed subordinate officers’ activities through prepared reports, conferences with personnel, and conducting on-site inspections. Other responsibilities included organizing and conducting monthly in-service training programs; fleet vehicle operations; advertising, testing, and conducting background checks for employment; researching and applying for federal grants; coordinating and supervising a field training officer program; participating in policy writing and operating procedures; and supervising the upkeep and purchasing of police equipment.
