The Routt County Communications Department is a multiple county 9-1-1 Dispatch center that provides public safety communication services for over 30 agencies including local and county law enforcement, emergency medical services, fire protection, Colorado Division of Wildlife, Colorado State Parks, and local and county public works.

As the Director it was my responsibility to maintain the Enhanced 9-1-1 emergency phone service which included heavy data entry and maintenance required for 9-1-1 database. It is also the non-emergency telephone answering point for public safety / service agencies which includes after hours telephone and paging services for over 250 members of various state, county, and local agencies. The Communications Center provides criminal history access to local, state, and federal computerized records. All functions join together to provide communications coordination of public safety agencies and resources. Additionally, I was responsible for all administrative-clerical, accounting, hiring, firing, training, finances, and the maintenance of all emergency equipment and facilities. Developed annual budgets as well as a capital improvement 5-yr plan. I designed a new state-of-the-art Communications Center and a new high frequency radio system.
