Education and Training
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
Chemical Engineering Bachelor of Science 2013
Graduated from the University of Illinois with an overall GPA of 3.23. My final two semesters at the University of Illinois I took an over loaded course schedule of 19 credit hours, which included my senior design. My other capstone engineering courses included unit operations lab, materials of reactors, bioreactors, tissue engineering, and polymer engineering.
Professional Experience
Pilot Plant Manager April 2017 to present
Dedert Corporation – Homewood, Illinois
Responsible for all testing and R&D associated with the development and sale of evaporators (forced circulation, falling film, and rising film), crystallizers (forced circulation, draft tube baffle, and batch), and dryers (ring dryers and spray dryers). My management responsibilities include oversight of several engineers as well as operators and support staff, as well as providing counsel to design engineers.
Process Development Engineer January 2015 to April 2017
Swenson Technology – Harvey/Monee, Illinois
Performs feasibility evaluations for solid product recovery via crystallization from bench scale all the way to large scale process equipment. This entails pilot scale simulations to determine optimum conditions for growing crystals that meet customer specifications. Additional responsibilities include analytical chemistry evaluations, economic calculations, and technical report writing.
Production Engineer (9 month contract to hire) March 2014 to December 2014
Adhesive Systems Inc. – Frankfort, Illinois
Responsible for process improvement and troubleshooting in the production of industrial adhesives. Additional responsibilities include ensuring JIT production, production troubleshooting, internal/external quality control, technical customer support, and R&D/custom reformulations. Currently two of my custom formulations are commercially available. While creating my custom reformulations I formed relationships with specialty chemicals suppliers such as Nexeo Solutions, Arkema, Emco, Lubrizol, as well as Avomeen Analytical Services.
Associate Engineer (6 month contract to hire) October 2013 to March 2014
Gas Technology Institute – Des Planes, Illinois
Worked full time as a lab technician/associate engineer responsible for operating a gas-liquid membrane separation process. My duties included operation, troubleshooting, and data collection for a pilot plant scale process. Several units were run on site at a coal power plant as well as high pressure units in a laboratory setting. This opportunity gave me experience in real time trouble shooting as well as proper research and development procedure. I also gained experience in process improvement. Perhaps the most valuable experience was the introduction to industry safety procedures for laboratory as well as on site operations.
Assistant Butcher January 2009 to January 2013
Jewel-Osco – La Grange Park, Illinois
Worked full time while attending school full-time during my first two years of college.
