Potable Water Valve Replacement, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego - Budget: $2.6 million
Replacement of 325 subterranean water valves across entire campus of Marine Corps Recruit Depot, ranging in valve sizes from 4-inches to 12-inches in diameter. Crews worked to accommodate officer’s residences, food and medical services and training facilities with precise outage schedules. Many of the valves were in and around high traffic areas that involved extensive safety preparation and notification of the officers and staff onsite. Project was completed on time with no accidents or injuries.
Recirculation Line Replacement in Barracks, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego - Budget: $1.2 million
Project consisted of replacing all of the existing domestic hot water system re-circulation lines for the Bachelor’s Enlisted Quarters in building B-619. This complex project required demolition of DHW copper lines, fittings, and valves, installation of new DHW Type “L” copper lines, fittings; and valves, labeling flow direction of equipment and pipes, (4) insulation of hot water pipes, and disposal of all demolished material. Detailed coordination of schedule was needed as occupants were relocated around ongoing work.
Overflow Reservoir Construction, Camp Pendleton, San Diego - Budget: $1.1 million
Project entailed the repairing a run of 18-inch piping from a semi-recessed water tank to an overflow reservoir. The existing gate valves and piping that had corroded over time necessitated the replacement of 600 LF of pipeline running to an overflow reservoir located at a downhill location. Extensive trenching and shoring operations were implemented to complete this project.
Potable Water Tank Replacement, Camp Pendleton, San Diego - Budget: $1.2 million
Replacement of a metal water tank that was deteriorating and in a state of disrepair. A temporary substitution of the tank was facilitated with the use of a bladder tank with emergency backup pumps to maintain fire services for this area of the base. Project included the construction of the temporary tank with pumps, the removal of the existing tank, grading for the new tank, the placement of a new concrete foundation, new fencing and the construction of the new metal water tank.
