EXPERIENCE

Manufacturing/Quality Engineer, OsteoMed, Addison, TX 09/2006-Present

Improved manufacturing cost for self-tapping bone screws as part of a cross-functional team. Team achieved the following:

oReduced setup time (75% reduction) from 6.5 hours to 1.5 hours by standardizing the process and reducing the total time allocated to external activities

oReduced cycle time (25% reduction) by reducing the “air time” and increasing the feeds and speeds

Successfully applied Lean Manufacturing Principles and Six Sigma Tools on the following Quality improvement projects:

oDeveloped and Standardized Computer Numerical Control setup-sheets/setup-carts which resulted in 28% reduction in set-up time

oWorked in designing straight hand seamer used in bending, seaming and flattening sheet metal resulting in a 15% increased productivity%

oPerformed Process Simulations, resulting in a 22% scrap reduction and lower overall cost

oCreated and implemented TPM process for CNC machines reducing downtime by 18%

oBy implementing FMEA tool developed logistic system for tooling of CNC machines by keeping the necessary tools on hand, achieved 15% cost saving by eliminating the need of overnight orderings

oApplied and sustained lean manufacturing/six sigma, and 5s tools, improving process performance by 25% and production rates/quality of output by 13%

oBy following PPAP process, developed and validated an in-process deburring step of screws threads to replace a post-machining manual deburring process resulting in the product to be ready to ship in 2 days instead of 5 days earlier (intense labor and high variation process)

oIn help of FMEA, re-designed 2.0mm Auto Drive screws, reducing the risk of breaking during insertion

oContributed in the idea for change in handle design, expected to improve comfort and safety when gripping the seamer.
