Take charge of a nursing unit, and acts as the leader of the group on an eight-hour shift.
Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises all activities in his unit. Establishes a system of work flow of all procedures during his shift. Gives assignments to ASU staff nurses in his unit. Checks and countersigns chartings, medications, requests for procedures to be done to the stroke patients before they are sent to the department concerned, and written instructions done by the ASU nurse upon discharged of the patient. Makes rounds, and sees to it that all patients are given the appropriate nursing care they need.
