Project Description:

As part of this assignment with the Phoenix Operations Centre, Aurelio was tasked with understanding the processes currently implemented with a goal of documenting and improving the business processes going forward. The Phoenix Operations Centre receives and assists in the resolution of pay issues related to Phoenix, the Government of Canada pay system for employees.

Responsibilities:

Analysis and documentation of the business processes, procedures, tools, applications and reference materials used by the Phoenix Operations Centre payroll personnel.

Interviewed multiple stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Led the effort to roll-out ServiceDesk Plus (a service request management system) to all the various Phoenix payroll streams as part of reengineering the process of how service requests are handled.

During this assignment, Aurelio led the business analysis activities for two projects: Federal Infrastructure Investment Portal (FIIP) and Online Annual Review on Official Languages. FIIP involved the design and implementation of a web portal to allow federal departments to submit project proposals for new federal infrastructure funding. The Online Annual Review on Official Languages involved the automation of a manual process of gathering survey question responses from federal departments and agencies to assess their compliance with the Official Languages Act.

Aurelio led the business analysis activities for this project which involved the remediation and resolving of data quality issues associated with AltaLink`s Telecom data stored in the SAP PM system as well as consolidating Telecom data stored in various Excel spreadsheets into SAP PM.

Responsibilities:

Documented the System Architecture for the insourcing with respect to changes in the network equipment, infrastructure, servers, workstations, and process reengineering of the support procedures involved.

Personal Sabbatical Jul. 2011 - Dec. 2012

After over 22 years in the IT industry, Aurelio took a personal sabbatical to focus on a number of creative pursuits including:

Wrote and published a memoir titled, "From Geek to Chic".

During his time with First Insight, Aurelio led a globally distributed team which designed and developed the maximEyes Electronic Health Records and Practice Management System for eyecare providers in the U.S. He was the team lead of many projects which implemented and supported key modules and integrations which included:

E-Billing and accounting module, which offered a full line-by-line transactional accounting and reporting system for an optical clinic and included integrations with many Blue Cross/Blue Shield providers in the U.S.

E-Prescribe integration, which allowed doctors to electronically prescribe within maximEyes via a web-services integration with Dr. First's e-prescribing technology, Rcopia.

ParadEyes.com Online Spectacle Ordering system, one of the first online ordering systems for spectacles and contact lenses, reengineered the process of how clinical staff ordered prescription eyeware for patients.

Certification by the U.S. Dept. of Health of the maximEyes Electronic Health Records system, which involved implementing a number of enhancements such as auditing, immunization public registries integration, and additional reporting features, as well as undergoing a rigorous testing process.

During his time with SHL, Aurelio was a developer and systems engineer for two projects: Human Resources Development Canada (HRDC) Welfare Income Supplement Program and the N.S. Dept. of Health Homecare Project. The HRDC project reengineered the process by which the program participants were assisted and supported in their efforts to work their way off of welfare. The N.S. Homecare Project reengineered the way that homecare is provided to patients by adding customization features and remote access capability.

Responsibilities:

Development and programming tasks using PowerBuilder, Visual Basic and SQL Server.

Designed and implemented significant improvements which cut hours off of the processing time of the batch processes which managed participant information and the payroll office system.

Administered and managed a distributed network of 5 locations across Canada which participated in database replication.

During his time with PRIOR, Aurelio was a programmer analyst and participated in a variety of real-time programming projects which included: modifications and updates to submarine fire control systems, radar management systems for Transport Canada, and a PLC Diagnostic Tool for a major tire manufacturer.

Responsibilities:

Analyzed, designed, and assisted in the reengineering and implementation of several changes to the Fire Control System of Canada's Oberon-class of submarines.

Assisted in the creation of training plans, test plans, and test cases, and programming tasks using PowerBuilder and SQL Server.

Performed software requirements analysis, design, and assisted in the reengineering and implementation for a number of change requests (to 2167A standards) for the ADLIPS system.
