Community (5 weeks)

Managed culinary classes at various public schools, k-8th, via Operation Food Search, a local food pantry that provides food to 270 community partners and 26 counties in both Missouri and Illinois; Improved culinary and nutrition knowledge in various age groups, including elementary, middle, and high-school aged participants.

Presented public policy topics imperative at both a local and national level to fellow interns and registered dietitians.

Assisted individuals preparing for bariatric surgery by delegating and instructing MOVE! Weight management groups and telemove classes.

Conducted one-on-one nutrition sessions with veterans whom were unable to leave their homes via home-based primary care rotation.

Improved nutrition lifestyle of those on hemo- and peritoneal dialysis via Fresenius medical center in St. Peters, MO by providing information regarding phosphorus, calcium, sodium, potassium, and fluid levels.

Staff Relief (4 weeks)

Counseled a variety of veterans with Type II and Type I Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Failure, Congestive Heart Failure, Obesity, Anorexia, and elevated lipid panels at a community based outpatient clinic (CBOC) on Washington Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri.
