As the HUC, I scheduled all the same day appointments for the medical providers, processed all referrals within and outside of SEARHC, including calling and scheduling all appointments for those referrals, scheduled follow up visits, and coordinated all visiting clinics.
EMT 2 & 3 – Through an approved Scope of Practice (Alaska State Division of Nursing) our responsibilities included Dispensing medications (except schedule 2 narcotics, and heart medications), Immunization and Medication injections, Start and manage IVs, Draw and process all blood products. Acquire EKGs, Assist in advanced airway management and all Codes. Charting. Cover nursing staff and take call when needed in the Emergency Room/ Treatment Room.
Clinical Assistant – In this capacity as patient care giver, responsibilities included Vitals, Bandaging, Casts, Emergency/Code recorder, Assist in Cast placement, Suturing, Preparing patients and procedure rooms for patient and provider.
Coordinated all Video Teleconferences and worked as the Nursing Assistant for Cardiology and Oncology Providers/ Patients
Laboratory Technician – When called in to work emergencies at night and weekends, I drew and processed all labs for the patients/ nurses/ providers.
Managed/ Coordinated and Assisted in the following Specialty clinics: Orthopedics, ENT, Audiology, Diabetes, Pediatrics, Rheumatology and Optometry.
Limited x-ray technician – Achieved the two yr certification through the University of Alaska, while completing hands on training and shooting x-rays at SEARCH Mt. Edgecumbe Hospital and attending the course of Ron Deis, through ANTHC, for nurses. Work directly with all maintenance and technicians in keeping all records and equipment maintained.
