Summary

I retired from the US Postal Service in February 2015. I have the desire to get back into management. I have been in the maintenance field for over 30 years. I have worked on switch gear, control systems for building systems such as HVAC, lighting, fire warning and security systems. I worked for BOEING Aircraft Company doing installation and testing of wiring on aircraft and ships. I was an Instrumentation Technician for Enrico Fermi Nuclear power plant and at Riverside Cement Company. I have worked as a maintenance mechanic, electronic technician, instrumentation and controls technician and have work on high speed sorting equipment, bar code sorters, optical character readers, roller and belt conveyor systems.

I have overseen numerous projects such as a 250,00 sq. ft expansion to a facility, to installing a completely new HVAC system and refurbishing restrooms in an occupied 650,000 sq. ft. facility. I was in Maintenance Management/Supervision for over 23 year. I started in supervision with a crew of 20 maintenance employees. When I retired in 2015, I was the Manager Maintenance Lead for the Colorado/Wyoming Performance Cluster, I had over 650 post offices and 7 processing facilities in 2 states to repair and maintain, including grounds with a staff of 800+ employees, including managers and supervisors.

I have used several different Computerized Maintenance Management Systems for inventory control, staffing, budget, document training and for preventive/predictive maintenance route scheduling.

I did not use a day of sick leave in the 27 years I was in the Postal Service. I am very reliable and dependable.

I was on call 24/7 for 23 years and responded to a facility flooding in Colorado while on vacation, to an earthquake in Seattle, I managed to direct maintenance and contractors to get the facilities operational with minimal impact to service.

I work extremely well with all departments and have the ability to embrace change and drive performance.

Experience

US Postal Service

Manager Maintenance Lead

Denver CO

I was responsible for ensuring the maintenance and repair of all post offices and facilities in Colorado and Wyoming were completed in a safe, timely and cost effective manner, while adhering to all local, state and federal guidelines regarding safety, health and environmental requirements. At the main plant, I had a staff of 32 managers/ supervisors and over 300 craft employees, consisting of electronic technicians, mechanics, building equipment technicians, electricians, welders and custodians. This encompassed establishing budgets, staffing levels, proper employee training, and follow up at offices to ensure compliance. I was also the security control officer for the main processing facility in Denver. This required me to do physical inspections of the exterior grounds and facility. I had to check badge readers, review access levels and ensure cameras were operational. I worked closely with the Postal Inspection Service on facility matters.

I received a letter from the Office of the Inspector General within 3 weeks after I started work in Denver questioning why the overtime at that facility was the highest in the nation the previous fiscal year at 16%. I had already reviewed the budget within 2 days of being in my new position and made several adjustments. This included training supervisors in prioritizing work load, ensuring employees were gainfully employed and changing schedules so employees were where they were needed, when they were needed. This reduced the overtime below 3% within 2 weeks without any impact to equipment performance and actually improved maintenance route completion times.

US Postal Service

Manager Maintenance

Seattle WA

I was responsible to the maintenance and repair of a 650,000 sq. ft. facility this included exterior grounds (parking lot, truck dock areas and landscaping) and I would assist subordinate offices when needed.

The facility had high bay mercury vapor lighting. This worked well but was not energy efficient. I contacted the local utility company and they were giving rebates up to 40% for the cost of retrofit to florescent lighting. I worked with our engineering department and they wrote the specifications for the retrofit and received funding to proceed. The facility is a 24/7 operation, I had to work with operations and the contractor to coordinate work areas. I initially worked out the plan and conducted daily meetings to make sure all departments involved knew what work was proceeding and where. If there needed to be any changes due to unforeseen operational needs, adjustments could be made to accommodate all involved. With the reduction in energy usage and rebate from the local utility the project had a 2 year return on investment, with continued cost savings into the future.

Maintenance Manager/Supervisor

Kent WA

I was an electronic technician and applied for a supervisor position at a new facility that was just being built. I was selected for the position and was required to write maintenance routes for all the new equipment using manufactures guidelines. I also had to develop shift schedules, staffing requirements, tool and part requirements to maintain equipment and custodial supplies.

Once I completed writing the routes I walked through the procedures to determine average time fo staffing purposes. I hired the necessary employees and scheduled their training prior to the facility opening. The facility opened with equipment and supplies in place, there were no issues. I ran both the operations and maintenance a couple of months until the operations supervisors were brought in. As the facility expanded I was promoted to the Maintenance Manager position

I complied with all safety requirements and maintained documentation as needed.
