EXPERIENCE

2001-2017 Credit Manager Lochinvar, LLC, Lebanon, Tennessee

I sold my business interest and joined Lochinvar to take over the credit function. The DSO level was at 47 days and revenues were 70 million. We have reduced the DSO to under 40 days by 2004 and it has been under 39 days since with some months reaching 37 while revenues have increased to over 400%. In my first six months on the job I was given the tasks of maintaining company fleet assets as well as fixed asset accounting and volume incentive programs for our customers. I designed a computer program to calculate the rebate amounts in 2004 which we still use. I handled property tax as well as other state taxes in payment of fees and filings. I put my legal training to use in reviewing documents for the company and drafting agreements. Bad debt losses over the last 14 years have totaled less than 150K on eight figure sales. I have helped implement both JD Edwards and SAP system conversions and I am proficient on both.

1992-2001 President Drennan, Taylor & Associates, Murfreesboro, TN

I helped found this company in 1990 and joined the company full time in 1992 as president. My firm served as management consultants specializing in receivable management, collection and training of credit personnel. Our firm obtained the highest rate of recovery of funds in the nation. I also designed a windows based collection system that we sold and demonstrated nationwide. The system was purchased by many offices of the National Association of Credit Management as well as major collection agencies and attorneys. Our firm also managed a physicians’ practice for four years including staffing and financial oversight.

1988-1992 Director of Credit Hartmann Luggage Company, Lebanon, TN

I joined Hartmann in 1988 to assume this newly created position in order to move Hartmann out of factoring and set up a complete in house credit department. I served as project leader to develop a credit and receivables management system on an IBM system 38. We did all of the design and programming with our IT staff in a six month period. I published the company’s first credit policy and procedures manual and set up the Hartman credit committee with bylaws and meeting format. Our staff of eight collectors was hired and trained by me personally. In addition I performed duties of preparing or reviewing legal agreements and security devices and serving on the Hartmann scholarship committee.

1980-1987 National Credit Manager Better- Bilt Aluminum Co., Smyrna, TN

I set up this company’s first credit department and took collections from 57 to 37 days versus a 46 day industry average and we maintained this level for eight years running while sales were increased from 28 to 100 million annually. Our write offs for the eight year period totaled $ 30,000. Working with our IT department I designed the first use of automatic credit limits with on line order approval and exception reporting. We set up computerized financial evaluation programs for calculating the “Z” score and failure probability. I wrote and published the company’s first credit policy manual and served as liaison to outside attorneys on legal matters. Additionally I managed the export and backhaul division.

1967-1980 Assistant Credit Manager Washington Industries, Nashville, TN

This was a 200 million clothing manufacturer that ceased operations in 1988. I oversaw a department of 5 regional credit managers and 20 support staffers. We designed and implemented one of the first credit and accounts receivable for an IBM mainframe systems in the area.
