Principle Software Engineer (February 2014 – October 2017)

Matrix managed a team of 6 DBA’s and Developers at multiple sites.

Partnered extensively with Audit and Security departments to develop and document auditing procedures, database control standards, and monitoring and escalation procedures for the Sybase environment

Participated in a team to develop an Enterprise Data Warehouse using Greenplum Appliances which was loaded daily and used for Business Intelligence reporting.

Supported ETL teams in designing strategies for loading large amounts of data within defined SLA’s using Datastage and Informatica.

Developed plan to migrate all ASE databases to Oracle.

Senior Technical Analyst (2009 –2014)

Responsibilities included liaison between DBA’s, Developers and End-users and providing solutions to the business units.

Tasked to move Sybase databases from physical to virtual servers allowing for dynamic addition and reduction of resources.

Oversaw the Quantitative Analysis team in developing a VaR (value at risk) engine based on a MySQL database environment that was set up and managed by myself. The output is used in the risk analysis of a participant and helps determine the collateral charge for the day.

Managed the implementation of a multi-terabyte SQL Server data warehouse for the Quantitative Risk Department using the Microsoft Fast Track DataWarehouse Architecture.

Principle DBA (1999 –2009)

Responsibilities includes Sybase, SQL Server, and DB2/LUW upgrades, operations support, job scheduling Database space (capacity) management, backup and recovery procedures and testing, load procedures, Sybase security administration, physical and logical design of databases, documentation and automation of Sybase D.B.A. procedures.

Implemented and tested three site database disaster recovery for all distributed DBMS platforms.

Implemented database performance enhancements to Sybase databases as part of task force responsible for tripling the number of sides a trade processing system could handle to 500 million per day.

Performed various ASE upgrades from 11.5.1 to 12.5.1, from a 2K page size to a 4K page size, migrated from AIX to Linux, upgraded from 12.5.1 to 12.5.3 and finally to 15.0.1.

Proposed, installed and used monitoring tools such as Confio and Bradmark as well as DBArtisan and Rapid SQL (Embarcadaro).

Database Administrator (1997-1999)

Responsibilities included creating all devices, databases, tables, dump and load procedures and support in application design.

Proposed and installed Sybase tools DBVision (Platinum).

WESTPAC BANKING CORP 1989-1997

Database Administrator (1994 –1997)

Responsibilities included support of management information's systems involving Sybase, SQL, QMF and MS Access applications, lodgments, documentation and automation of Sybase D.B.A. procedures.

Performed system administration for the RS/6000 platform.

Assisted in migrating existing databases from DB2 and FOXPRO to Sybase.

Primary support for DEC, AS/400, RS/6000 and client server platforms.

Supported upper management to reduce costs while automating processes resulting in a "dark" data

center within certain windows. Became part of a larger project to consolidate processing sites.
