Project: Accelerated corrosion testing using brine solutions created with industrial grade ice melt to test the corrosive effect on 5000 and 6000 series aluminum panels in snowy regions.
Built the fog chamber, set up the experiment and optimized the test parameters with troubleshooting the issues faced.
Testing the panels for galvanic corrosion and microscopic analysis for intergranular corrosion sites.
Failure analysis of the test specimens using Optical Microscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy.
Manufacturing of Ultra High Carbon Steel (UHCS) via Reactive Mechanical Milling (RMM) and phase identification and material characterization of the manufactured specimens – Michigan Technological University Sept 2017 – April 2018
Manufactured the UHCS samples with powder metallurgy process, “Reactive Mechanical Milling” by varying the milling time and the milling environment between Air and Argon. Prepared consolidated samples using cold and hot isostatic pressing.
X-ray diffraction analysis for phase identification and volumetric analysis of the sample using SIEMENS D500 and SCINTAG XDS 2000 powder X-ray machines with Jade and DMSNT software packages.
Design and development of brake disc rotor from Aluminum Metal Matrix Composite reinforced by Silicon Carbide Jan -April 2016
Reverse engineered and manufactured a brake disc rotor from AMMC with improved corrosion resistance, wear resistance and less weight. Manufactured and optimized the composite used for the final production and built the production setup using stir casting method. Published two research papers in IJIR. ISSN: 2454-1362.
