ENCORE FELLOW, CITY OF CORNELIUS, PORTLAND, OR 2016-2017

Encore Fellows are seasoned business professionals contributing their expertise to nonprofit organizations, providing the Fellows the opportunity to gain experience and insight into the nonprofit world. Selected by the Cornelius Public Library to drive the capital campaign for the new library at Cornelius Place, a mixed-use development in the city of Cornelius featuring a 14,000 square foot library and 45 units of affordable housing. Contribution includes fundraising with businesses, individuals and civic organizations, development of the case/positioning statement, the campaign messaging, press releases and backgrounders. Conducted workshops with the library advisory board and city officials. Liaison to the housing partners Bienestar and Bridge Housing on communications campaign. Drove the outreach and communications plan for the highly successful September, 2017 groundbreaking event.

INDEPENDENT CONSULTANT, PORTLAND OR, 2014 TO PRESENT

Communications and business strategy consultant. Developed and conducted a full day story telling workshop for a global multinational client in Geneva in a highly regulated sector. Co-authored the follow-on message architecture for audiences including national governments.

Under my watch annual agency revenue from international business grew from 2% in 2002 to 14% by 2012. Developed and sponsored the global leadership team. Grew number of accounts both in country and cross-regional and increased agency revenue from international business. Moved to London to drive start up of agency’s Europe, Middle East and Africa business in communications and public affairs. Joined fast growing public relations agency as early employee to work with Microsoft Corp. on public relations and trade industry analyst relations. PR counsel to top Microsoft executives including Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer and for several divisions as Microsoft grew from $345M to $50B in annual revenue.
