Ensuring food in house was being used by date and not wasting it. Assisting the consumers that could participate, in making a list of groceries for the month to purchase household food and goods.
I would take them to into the community to help the integrate socially as well as take care of shopping, paying bills, attend social events. I work to help mentor good social behavior, emotional behavior, and responsible behavior. During my time at ICAN, I have received very high praise on my 90-day review. In February of 2018 I was chosen for employee of the month. My co-workers and supervisors liked working with me very much, as I was very hard working.
As a Level One Medication Aide, it was also part of my job get medication counts done at the start of a shift and the end of a shift. Than sign off on the logs. During my shift I was accountable for making sure medications were dispensed in accordance to Missouri state regulations. I documented all behavior, any injuries that I may see or witness. If any consumer had a wound, I was to follow doctors’ orders in dressing and treating such wound. i.e. creams, dressing changes Consumers with special diets I ensured were followed. At the end of every shift, each consumer I worked with during that shift was documented on completely, as per state requirements and ICAN standards to ensure that every person working with that consumer could follow that consumer for the best care possible.
Calo: Residential Coach (Youth Mentor) Sep 2015-Feb 2016
130 Calo Lane

Residential Coach
-The Residential Coach position is essentially a life- coaching job. Coaches interact with teens in a school, living, and play environment.
-Coaches model how to interact with peers, talk about life in productive ways, and provide positive role -modeling. A typical day includes many life and interpersonal activities such as spending a couple of hours on the water wake -boarding, helping students care for an animal in order to gain empathy, helping students complete their school work, assisting counselors during therapy groups, and much more.
- The job required honesty, caring, a desire to learn and a thick skin. It is very rewarding as you see kids change and make improvements in their lives. Most interactions with the kids are meaningful (or at least neutral) and frequently fun.
- I was trained immediately for the job. New employees receive extensive training including CPR, First Aid, therapeutic hold techniques, clinical interventions, our model, how to be more effective, etc.
-The job was physically demanding. I had to participate in therapeutic holds with students daily. I had to run distances, and at times, use approved carries.
