Steel Service company. Buys Steel Coils world wide, processes them into plate and ships to customers in North and South America. Managed more than 25 concurrent ERP related IT projects. Led the migration of the legacy ERP systems off the HP3000 / Image platform and onto a Unix / Oracle platform, for over 1000 users in 2 companies. Implemented a new canned ERP system, (Steelman / ACCPAC), in the new Mexico facility. After 2 years, this facility became the most profitable division in the company. Led the migration to Actuate / SQL as a company wide reporting solution.

Avis Industrial Corp CIO 03/01/2000 - 03/01/2001
Avis is a holding co that owns 12 manufacturing companies throughout the US. The automotive EDI system was redesigned so that it interacted with the Ford EDI Cumm system. Failure to achieve this goal would have resulted in the loss of Ford as a customer. Fixed the problems with the “Product Configurator” Module of the ERP which reduced department expenses towards the budget goal and reduced mainframe downtime from 2% to less than 0.1%.
Mitsubishi Climate Control Division MIS Manager, 11/01/1996 - 03/01/2000
This Division of Mitsubishi manufactures automotive climate control systems for cars; for GM, Mitsubishi and other companies. I arrived the day before we opened to doors to the building. Operation grew from $40MM-150MM in annual revenues during my employment. Led the implementation of the MRP9000 ERP and EDI package for a new startup factory. Agreed to act as Materials Mgr for one year since IT was caught up on their projects. In that capacity, led the GM Aztec project: Coordinated the design groups in Japan and Detroit, the customer in Detroit, the Sales Department in L.A., the Pre-production Group in Indiana and the Manufacturing Facility in Mexico. The GM liaison stated that “John single handedly put the project back on track.” Project manager for the migration from MRP9000 system to J.D. Edwards ERP. Led the systems team for the opening of the plant in Mexico to manufacture the Aztec AC systems.

Advacate is a software company that sold and serviced companies that use the HP3000/ASK MANMAN ERP package. Gathered the requirements from the customers, write the Design Proposals, Project Outlines, User Manuals and created Training Programs for the products that Advacate designed and sold. Managed the project team’s workload and performed quality assessments on the finished products before delivery to the customers.

When I arrived, the MANMAN ERP package had just been installed on a new HP3000. The implementation had not “taken” and half of the department had quit. My first goal was to re-staff the department, complete the implementation and fine tune the operation. From the corporate offices in Champaign, IL., managed the IT operations of the 14 facilities from Canada to Brazil. 11 IT professionals. I was part of a team that bought or sold a facility every 6 months. We would plan the project, get it approved and execute the plan. We bought up the market.
