DB2 Duties: Performed DB2 support functions for the client's migration and conversion of Ameritech/SBC data on an Anixter system to a new and separate Ameritech/SBC system with only Ameritech data (Anixter sold network organization to Ameritech/SBC). The Ameritech/SBC system was resized based on the amount of Anixter data that was dropped. The application used DB2 databases that interfaced with People Soft. Installed test and production DB2 subsystems. Created all DB2 objects in the new test subsystem and performed data loads to populate the tables with production data. Assisted with application data drops of Anixter data from the Ameritech/SBC tables. Other duties included: application BINDS and GRANTS; DASD utilization and capacity planning; DB2 Connect installation; backup and recovery; disaster recovery; and performance tuning.

IMS Duties: The application used IMS databases that interfaced with People Soft. Provided application support functions on test and production systems for IMS databases. Performed DBD, PSB, ACB generations. Executed IMS utilities including REORG, RECOVERY, and IMAGE COPY. Performed backup/recovery tasks. Conducted performance monitoring. Performed job scheduling. SYBASE / MS SQL SERVER DBA - Consultant

2 – 6/1999, ZURICH AMERICAN INSURANCE, Schaumburg, IL Application: Insurance

Duties: Provided SYBASE and MICROSOFT SQL SERVER DBA support functions for client server data downloads from a mainframe DB2 production application to a SYBASE client server. Data was compiled and formatted into OLAP multi-dimensional hypercubes and also presented in SEAGATE CRYSTAL reports. Database administration, data manipulation, and analysis was performed via DBARTISAN, MS SQL SERVER ENTERPRISE MANAGER, WISQL using TRANSACT SQL, and MS SQL SRVR QUERY ANALYZER. Created and maintained some stored procedures, scripts and batch jobs for the monthly processing. Also, assisted in the conversion of tables, stored procedures and batch jobs from the existing SYBASE 11.0 database server to a MS SQL SERVER 7.0 database server.

4 – 12/1998, CAREMARK, Deerfield, IL Application: Pharmaceuticals

Duties: Provided lead implementation and support functions for the Materials Management System (MMS) application. The application was converted from a VSAM application, which was not Y2K compliant, to an Y2K compliant DB2 application. American Software, Incorporated (ASI) developed the application. Physically created 420 new DB2 tables and associated objects in each of 3 test subsystems and a new production subsystem. Performed: sizing and DASD analysis; DDL maintenance and physical design functions; ongoing utility processing, scheduling and maintenance; BIND/REBIND processing; EXPLAIN and SQL analysis; backup and recovery tasks; and general support and problem resolution. Generated documentation for the application staff that included object naming standards and object entity relationship diagrams through the ERWIN reverse engineering tool. Also, participated in the client's disaster recovery testing. Following the exercise performed an analysis relating the overall results and recommendations for improvements in the process.

8/1997 – 1/1998, FIRST CARD BANK, Elgin, IL Application: Banking Credit Cards

Duties: Provided support for a data base stress-testing group during the development and phase implementation of a new credit card holding application. The new application, which retained most of the existing functionality and DB2 objects, was designed to accommodate 40 times the existing application enabling the processing of 40 million credit card accounts. Migrated production DB2 objects to the test environment and resized them through the use of PLATINUM DB2 RC QUERY / UPDATE / MIGRATOR/ BATCH PROCESSOR. Created and executed DDL to create new and/or altered objects. IBM and PLATINUM unloads, loads, reorgs, and index recoveries were used to implement any physical structure changes (add/remove columns, new/altered keys, etc.) during the physical design. These utilities were also used to load tables for the application programming group to test new programs. Also, executed BIND/REBIND for the application programmers as needed due to new/altered programs. Identified tablespace candidates for partitioning and implemented the partitioning (24 and 32 partitions) to accommodate a considerable increase in data. Created DB2 utilities for backup and recovery as needed for new and changed objects. Also, packaged the DDL, utilities, libraries, and tools for the data base stress-testing group to use at an off-site test location.

Duties: Provided DB2 and IMS DBA support for the application clients, the development staff, and data center operations personnel for several network administration applications. As the support DBA, prepared and implemented database software for release installation using DBD, PSB, ACB and IMS SYSTEM generations, DYNAMIC ALLOCATION, DDL, and BIND/REBIND. Designed and created new/modified IMS databases in the test/production systems as requested by programmers. The process included DBD, PSB, ACB, and IMS SYSTEM generations. Development was supported on 3 test systems and implemented in 2 production systems. Virtual test systems were established to reduce physical resource requirements.
