Thesis title: A wireless, miniaturized, and implantable Brain-Machine-Spinal Cord Interface (BMSI) System on Chip (SoC) for behavioral recovery after spinal cord injury (SCI). Description: Low-power, wireless, implantable, closed-loop Brain-Machine Spinal Cord Interface (BMSI) IC have been designed and developed by integrating analog/mixed-signal circuitry and VLSI DSP systems on a single-chip for restoring functional recovery after spinal cord injury. The fabricated and packaged System on Chip (SoC) have been tested in anesthetized rats with collaboration of neuroscientists at University of Kansas Medical Center for in vivo characterization and functionality test in rat model.

• Sole IC designer and implementer for IC chip used in animal spinal implant trials. In charge of design, simulation, implementation, electrical testing of the entire BMSI chip and apparatus for testing functionality in in-vivo experiments.

• Analog and digital integrated circuit design (LNA, Gm-C Filter, ADC, Stimulator, Digital signal processing unit)

• Architected layout and fabrication of IC in 0.35 μm AMS technology

• Designed and implemented test bench characterization of the fabricated IC

- Primary engineer on in vivo experiments with anesthetized rats to show the chip functionality by closed-loop cortical control of intra-spinal micro-stimulation (ISMS) Phone: 216-***-****

Sharif University of Technology & University of Toronto 2008 - 2011 Graduate Research Assistant

Thesis title: Design, simulation, and Implementation of a low-noise trans-impedance amplifier for 2.5Gb/s optical communications.

Description: This project was initially defined and funded at Photonics group of University of Toronto. Among all M.Sc. students, my proposal was selected for this joint project. An ultra-low-power and low-noise transimpedance amplifier for 2.5 Gb/s optical communication was designed and successfully implemented in 0.13 μm IBM and 0.18 μm TSMC technologies. Both fabricated chips were measured using high frequency lab equipment.
