Work Experience

Metal Works of High Point High Point, NC

June 2017 - August 2018

While employed at Metal Works, I quickly became familiar with all of the various types of machines so that I could set up, operate and maintain every machine in Plant Two. This included Takisawa TS4000YS 5th axis dual spindle lathe, an ST-20 Haas CNC lathe, a Brother CNC Mill and a Mitsubishi Mill. I wrote several programs for the CNC lathes. I also gained experience operating a Hydmech vertical auto saw, and I was one of only two employees allowed to operate the new Hydmech horizontal saw. I would program, set up and operate both the Jet conversational mills as well as setup operate the two manual mills. I became the first shift Lead man over Plant Two. My duties included checking in and scheduling work orders, having to fully understand the various components and each process needed to finish the part. I was also responsible for writing and editing programs. I would set up and operate both of the lathes while doing my Lead responsibilities. I was usually asked to give preliminary interviews with new potential applicants. I was often responsible for training new employees throughout the plant. I was also the instructor for several training courses for my department. I wrote several work instructions for setup purposes throughout my department as well, which are used daily. I received a certificate for a lathe course taught by Haas instructors at the Haas Factory Outlet which dealt with programming and machine specifics for Haas CNC lathes.
