Job description: Technical Field Advisor (TFA) for Diverter and full Exhaust Bypass System construction.

To supervise the receipt, storage, handling, construction, erection, commissioning and completion of all outstanding activities for NEM Power Systems (Siemens) supplied equipment such as Mechanical components of Bypass Systems behind the Gas Turbine Exhaust, comprising Diverter, Steel Support Structure, internally insulated Stack and Ductwork, Silencer Baffles, Hydraulic Power Unit, Seal Air System, Guillotine Damper and Expansion Joints.

Main duties:

Give assistance to erection contractor in understanding and interpreting installation instructions, drawings, specifications and other provided documentation correctly for storage, handling, erection, commissioning and operation of NEM Power Systems equipment.

Assist and advise during installation in a timely manner to minimize delays and to support the quality of work and to support the correctness of installation.

Attend meetings concerning matters of the products supplied by NEM Power-Systems

Issue Non-Conformity Reports, Site Observation Notices in case deviations between work installed and specifications and/or requirements are discovered or reported.

Monitor site activities and perform random checking of welding, installation, painting, quality and HSE issues.

Verify and witness the important and critical installation procedures, sequences and tolerances at the time of presence on site.

Communication with main office to discuss technical queries and best solution.

Prepare reports on regular basis (typically weekly or as per agreed sequence) or in case required depending from the relevance of the matter to report.

Advise, consult and assist the on start-up and commissioning activities of the supplied products.

Production of Outstanding Activity reports, track completion and to support commissioning in handover to client.

Position Description

The Construction Manager oversees the manufacture and assembly phase of the company's Oil and Gas processing packages.

Purpose of Role (Objectives)

To ensure efficient, correct and safe manufacture and assembly of process packages in the workshop

To ensure correct site installation and assembly of process packages.


Assembly Supervision:

Liaise with sub contract management (Manufacture) to monitor assembly production schedules & manning levels.

Liaise with sub contract management to ensure adequate equipment is available for production and assembly & work towards continuous improvement of working practices.

Schedule and chair monthly PGI / Sub Contractor meetings for continuous improvement of quality and safety related issues. Produce Agenda.

Act as the communication interface between Sub Contractor and PGI from commencement of assembly to despatch of completed skids and interconnecting pipework.

Ensure correct issue of drawings are being used / retrieval of superseded drawings.

Supervise labour on sub-contractor shop floor during assembly ensuring timely and safe completion to required standards.

Supervise the assembly of pressure vessel internals Ie. Sieves, Weirs, Coalescers, Electrostatic Coalescers, Hydro Cyclones, Electrostatic Transformer installation etc…

Expedite bought out items in conjunction with relevant Project Engineer, ensuring both PGI and sub-contractors are fully informed of all delays / errors.

Ensure equipment and components are readily available for a smooth, efficient assembly process.

Carry out inspection of fabricated items at sub-contractors, ensuring compliance with PGI requirements.

Inspect components prior to assembly, ensuring correct supply and quality of manufacture.

Expedite fabrication activities at sub-contractors.

Review QA documentation and ensure compliance with PGI ITP’s/Quality plans.

Supervise preparation of equipment for despatch (i.e. packing, blanking, preservations, safe loading, lashing, etc.); assist with preparation of packing lists.

Ensure lifting arrangements for load-out/assembly with Sub contractor are agreed in advance in accordance with current lifting procedure.

Prepare Lifting plans for loading management and H & S approval.

Compile assembly & installation instructions.


Represent PGI onsite interests.

Liaise with Client site management.

Complete daily reports in line with PGI Project Managers' requirements.

Agree manpower levels, tooling / equipment / cranage requirements and production / progress schedules.

Supervise the delivery and offloading, storage, unpacking, load lifting onto site/platform and into installation position of all PGI equipment.

Record and inform PGI Project Manager of all damages.

Observe and report on the repair work of transit/installation damages.

Supervise the installation of PGI equipment ensuring correct installation in accordance with PGI or supplier installation instructions.

Have site fully prepared for the arrival of PGI Commissioning Engineer and assist with all commissioning activities.

Manufacturing supervision, packaging, delivery, Installation supervision and commissioning support of large scale Exhaust Bypass Systems, Support Steelwork, Expansion Joints, Boiler/Heat Exchangers, Damper Units/Diverters, Seal Air Systems, Guillotine Dampers. Liaison with factory manager, production planning, expediting of bought out items, lift planning, correctness of manufacture and assembly, Factory acceptance test, setting up of dampers to seal and operate and to operate usually with fail safe system to client approved ITP.
