ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Plant support at a Tier I automotive supplier using Siemens 7 programs for evaluation and improving current production. Address 'open issue' log to confirm programming changes for overall system improvements to reduce downtime and improve cycle time.
Document several aspects of program to verify consistancy throughout entire line, especially 'Alrams' and recovery.
Design new technical manuals for Nissan, Harry Major Machine, GM, and BASF for new installations of Cognex vision systems.
Design new technical manual for Ford applying Ford and Siemens Transline (FAST) standard for a stand-alone system interfaced with a Fanuc robot and Ether-Inspect vision system; then train Ford employees at site.
Assist with implementing Cognex vision systems, Ether-Inspect vision software, and Scropion software.
Plant support of manufacturing systems equipped with an assortment of PLC technologies with the main emphasis on Siemens TIA Portal V13. Some systems integrated with ABB robots.
Modify, revise, and create KAREL programs for new projects. Projects involved controling a manufacturing process with 2 to 4 Fanuc robots. Program incorporated OEM specifications, data links, and occansionally a Red Lion HMI.
Incorporate DRS internal check-off list to verify and debug all machine functionality, including SCADA data links.
Implement Siemens Portal V13 software to control a robotic system. Resolve, troubleshoot, modify, diagnose, and preform in-house diagnostics and customer site commionsioning.
Cradle to grave project using Schneider Pro 7 software to control two prototype machines producing automotive crankshafts. Cycle(s) involved the following aspects: tool change, cold cycle start, part quality, monitoring of production, and data link with ANDON using Factor Information System (FIS).
Create manuals for training employees on all aspects of machine, including: operation, program, electrical and mechanical maintanance.
Create, modify, or revise electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics with AutoCad.
Create 'Open Issue' log to reduce the redundancy of common errors, reduce scrap, improve tool life, and improve manufacturing process. Eliminate approximately 25% of common errors by replacing or repairing pneumatic cylinders, proximately switches, and other key components. Reduce scrap by 15% through mechanical and programming changes. Resulting in customer purchasing three new machines.
Monitor PLC program of machine crashes during production, documented and analyzed manufacturing process. Crashes did not produce an alram and were not visible to operator; causing either reduce production or complete production stoppage. Result: resolved logic sequencing issues to eliminate crashes that improved production.
Conduct an analysis of four manufacturing machines having poor quality, low production, high mean time between failures, and unusual cycle times. Create a recommendation list to resolve issues to OEM. OEM agreed to initiate recommends for one machine. Result: cycle time from 3 minutes to 55 seconds, scrap reduction from 50 parts/shift to 2 parts/shift, and improve MTBF from 25 alarms/shift to 1 alram/shift. Extra: customer purchase several new machines.
