With over nine years of psychiatric experience as a registered nurse, my objective is to attain experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner following my completion of the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner program in December 2018 and intended seating for boards in January 2019.

As a registered nurse, my psychiatric experience involves inpatient crisis units and home health. As a charge nurse on both children and adults crisis units, duties include performing psychiatric admission assessments, overseeing other nurses and behavioral health technicians, collaborating with psychiatrists and other personnel regarding patients’ plan of care, obtaining orders for emergency treatments orders for psychiatric emergencies including medication and use of restraints and seclusion, administering medication and providing medication education and support to patients. As a home health psych RN, duties include performing psychiatric nursing assessments, providing medication education, coping skills education, and support to patients in their home. My duties at Hope Hospice involved admissions, discharges, interdisciplinary team collaboration, medication management and teaching, and emotional support.
