• Demonstrated proficiencies in telephone and front-desk reception within a high-volume environment. Calmed upset/angry patients, and used various methods to resolve patient/staff conflict.

• Facilitated the Language of Caring for all Valley Health employees. Trained new employees on daily job duties and expectations.

• Collected payments from patients for their copays and bills, by using Virtual Merchant or other tools. Counted the change drawer in my various working areas and kept an accurate account of the monies I was in charge of.

Obtain any signatures for documents necessary for stay. Worked with personnel in the Utilization Review Department, by corresponding through E-mail, fax and phone.

• Reviewed the schedules for all department appointments to check for authorizations, patient financial responsibility, and made sure orders were on file for appointments. Notified patients prior to appointments of any changes or responsibilities they may have for their appointment such as financial obligations or prior testing, as well as, pre-registered them for appointments for a quick check-in at arrival.

Registered patients in the Outpatient department for lab work, cardiopulmonary, radiology, cath lab, pre-surgical appointments, labor and delivery, and admitted patients as inpatient or observation using the EPIC system in a courteous, proficient manner while keeping a positive and neat working environment.

• Collected payments for copays and co-insurance for patient accounts using EPIC, RevSpring and Passport systems.

• Verified insurance eligibility for all patients during registration and updated all demographics accurately.

• Answered and transferred phone calls in a polite and appropriate form.

• Filed documents correctly and faxed paperwork to various departments.

• Worked independently to complete tasks and handled various situations that would arise on a daily basis.

• Scheduled, rescheduled and pre-registered patients for STAT appointments and/or necessity.
