EXPERIENCE
P.C.I. (Protect Controls, Inc.)
February 2016 – July 2018
Electrical/Structural Designer
I was hired as an electrical designer and only did electrical designing for the first few projects, then VP of Engineering started giving me the structural side of the projects because of my background.
Structural - Using the National Electrical Code (N.E.C.) to help layout the customer's electrical equipment to meet N.E.C., I used equipment clearance code to achieve the correct location for all equipment. If no code violations are detected the electrical designer could proceed with the electrical drawings. I also helped design the base channels to avoid any equipment cutouts in the floor plate, designed the exterior elevations, wall cutouts, HVAC location, pier/slab foundations, Material Take Off (MTO), suggested lifting plan and I designed platforms stairs & landing.
Electrical - Once all equipment locations have been established by the structural designer, the electrical designer will layout wire ways, cable trays conduit routes, interior/exterior lights, exit lights interior elevations and receptacles. If the original equipment location has interference the electrical designer will communicate with the structural designer for a new location. The electrical designer will size wire ways, cable trays wire sizes, breaker sizes, conduit, create wiring diagrams, created panel schedules, created wire tags and one lines.
Dynacon (Forum Energy Technology)
November 2014 – November 2015
January 2016 – February 2016 – Contract
I was hired as a drafter II, my daily duties included supporting engineers with meeting dates for projects, as built drawings and communicating with the shop for marked up drawings. Once I learned Dynacon’s equipment I was given more responsibilities with designing of equipment, from helping with quotes, updating old designs and troubleshooting problems in the shop.
Hunter Buildings
September – March 2012 Cad Drafter
March – November 2014 Project Coordinator
I was hired on as a Cad Drafter, designing/drafting blast proof modular buildings, duties included red lines in structural, architectural, plumbing, H.V.A.C. and electrical. The first few months I was taught the concept of putting modular buildings together along with the different disciples associated with them. After being able to handle the work load and picking up their system I spent the next three (3) months (March – June) training to become a project coordinator.
In March 2013 I was promoted to Project Coordinator. My duties went to coordinating the drawing aspect of the project working more directly with the project manager carrying out orders to the designer and drafter that worked alongside with me on my projects. Other duties included checking the drawing package for accuracy, working more with the shop managers and the guys in the shop, coordinating project meetings and help manage the cad department second to the lead project coordinator. I was also involved with updating our work flow processes, updating our procedures and interviewed new hire’s.
In the summer of 2013 Hunter Buildings acquired MEP 2013. During my free time I turned our 2D drawings into 3D drawings incorporating all our disciples into MEP.
Texas Municipal Power Agency (TMPA)
04/16/08-09/12
Drafting Specialist
At TMPA I maintain original plant drawings (electrical, mechanical, architectural, structural, civil, transmission and P&ID). I also do field verifications, assist the engineers, help coordinate drafting projects, help train co-workers to use AutoCad, TrueView and created procedures for the power plant and transmission.
Rolligon
03/19/07-04/08
Designer
At Rolligon I work with a team of engineers designing several different kinds of (body load blenders, twin pumps and twin blenders that we mount on trailers) for the oil field industry. I help lay out schematics (electrical, hydraulic, process piping, fuel line and several others) in which we draw in auto cad. In solid works we add all major components to see what the over all model looks like and make sure that nothing hits. When not working on pumps I assist with problems the engineers, designers and drafter have with solid works and auto cad. I also help with ordering parts for the units and design question out in the shop.
LgL Animal Care Products
12/18/01-03/12/07
Drafter
While an employee at LgL I helped design animal enclosures for the animal world. I was involved with the projects from beginning to end starting with laying out floor plan to fit the spec. of the customer’s request. Next I produced detailed drawings of LgL equipment based from the floor plans. One of the last procedures was producing a materials take off spread sheet. I would also make walks through the shop making sure my projects and others were running alright.
