Professional Experience

2013-present Renown Health (Reno NV) Patient Access

In February of 2016 I became a Supervisor of Patient Access overseeing South Meadows ER and Imaging and lab services. Encouraging the growth and development of up to 30 direct reports while maintaining business operations for multiple locations simultaneously. Business has been successful and we have expanded into 5 new lab locations in 2 years’ time. I have empowered my team to take initiative and ensure each patient has the best possible experience. I have created standard work and tip sheets to encourage best practice is followed. I have delivered corrective action, adjusted development plans, and participated in Kaizen’s for process improvement. Providing the best in customer service, and providing mentorship and development for my team is my privilege and my passion.

As a PAR and PAR Senior I served families undergoing such ailments as Brain Tumors, Cancer, and Cystic Fibrosis. I handled all aspects of registration, scheduling and insurance for the Children’s Specialty department. I assisted families in enrolling in assistance plans and submitted claims for reimbursement to the hospital when needed. Working closely with Social Services, Child life and Clinicians we developed a comprehensive care environment and our patients needs were not only met but exceeded.

2007-2012 Lodi Unified School District (Lodi CA) Para-Educator

I thrived in this classroom for 5 years. I had the privilege of educating and enlightening the children of our program who ranged from 5-11. We were a complex class covering everything from therapeutic positioning, communication and sign language, to hygiene and feedings. We integrated Art, Music, and social and community training to create a well-rounded program. I genuinely enjoyed every day we were able to spend with these unique children.

2003-2004 St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center (Reno, NV) Intake Representative

In this role I completed registration for patients presenting for services in the Emergency Room. Gathering demographics and completing insurance benefits in a timely manner. Acting as a liaison between families and social services during traumatic events. Directly admitting patients who needed surgery or acute care and obtaining authorizations for those admissions. I developed a copay matrix to assist with accurate collection of copay’s for the most common insurance carriers. I advanced into a day lead within a year of hire and fully owned the cash drawer and discharge process.

1995-2003 Sierra Regional Center (Sparks NV) _ Disability Service Technician

I assisted residents with daily living skills and goal management. I created and implemented programs to help them develop life skills then documented and adjusted programs as necessary. I was the liaison between court and family services; assuring that persons goals were being satisfied. I assisted in Music, Art, and creative projects to ensure our clients had positive life balance.
