I work as a patient care technician II as a supplemental float pool, and I work closely with the nurses on every unit, take vitals, give baths, help with dressing, ambulating, oral care. I have also been trained to do bladder scanning as well as any help with everyday ADL's. Assist patients with all other needs that are necessary to provide excellent care. Provide privacy, and confidentiality all while ensuring the patient is taken care of. Etc. anything that may be in my job description or anything to assist the nurse.I am now considered supplemental nursing float pool. I work in all departments and units within the hospital.

I am now a certified nusring assistant II I am trained to do wound dressing, indwelling Foley catheters, in and out caths while maintain sterile technique, ostomy care, oral suctioning, priming IV lines for the nurses, setting up tube feedings and giving bolus feeds if and when needed, depending on what unit I work in, etc. I also draw blood in their emergency department if I am required to work there for some shifts.

Phlebotomist for Quest Diagnostics in a Urgent care/Family practice doctor's office where I draw labs on patients of all ages, including glucose hgb A1c levels in office, and also run dipstick routine urine's, give teaching material out to patients on how to perform 24hr urine samples, hemocult blood sample, etc. I also have to order the labs in which the provider wants on his/her patients as well as operate the centrifuge to spin down specimens, pour off, and freeze certain tests following protocol according to the lab standards through I Quest and ASCP.

I preform whole blood phlebotomy on donors in and around the community for the blood donor center at Camp Lejeune Naval hospital.
