I was responsible for contacting medical facilities and offices to collect records. I would mainly speak with the medical records department representative or the office manager. To ensure that we collected the correct records and to avoid mistakes I would verify confidential information. ( ex: patient name/ DOB/ PCP or Member ID # for insurance). Always being in compliance with the HIPPA laws extremely important with each call that I made and answered. Once I have confirmed that I located where records were, I would then scheduled a way for records to be extracted. This job position required me to multitask, pay attention to detail, work at a quick pace (we had deadlines for when records needed to be submitted) and also provide excellent customer service for both inbound and outbound calls. I would take anywhere from 50 to 100 calls a day.
